I saw a curious post about a job. The supe only wanted applicants with successful coaching experience. Despite how hard that is to define, don't all the coaches looking for a job believe they can be successful under the right conditions and they also want to work at a school that is always successful at whatever they attempt? How many applicants would the average 6man school get under those subjective demands? I don't know barely anything but I thought it was a strange demand. Do coaches with successful experiences go around quitting schools that are equally successful?

The short answer is yes. For many and varied reasons. The two most common would be: the Coach has seen the Jr. High in action and would rather move to greener pastures than have a couple of down years on his resume. The Coach has had personality conflicts with the administration and has been asked to leave.

So a supposedly successful school would let their succesful coach go just because of a personality conflict? What effect does all this coach changing have on the children? Do they care?

"Personality conflicts" may have been a poor choice to use as a discription. It was just easier than going in to the longer version. Differences between administators and coaches have been around for a long time. It will usually involve board members putting pressure on the administrator to force the coach to change something. It could be as simple as who gets playing time or who is not getting playing time. It could be moral or ethical differences. But usually it will be a philisophical difference involving practice time, off season weight lifting, inseason weight lifting and so on. When it comes down to the board moving the administrator or the administrator moving the coach, guess who wins?
