Football College Scholarships

I said it before and I'll say it again, one way for a 6-man athlete to really get recognized is by track. If he has good times in the 100,200,400 etc. his going to get some looks. There's no denying speed no matter what level it comes from. Exposure is another key though put highlights on recruiting websites, youtube anything to get the recognition. Also go to major football camps Texas, Baylor, ATM and bust a 4.4 in the 40, then you'll probably be getting some interest.

Just to brag a little about my son..He wants to go to college for football. He has the heart and soul for the game..He will be a senior next yr and already stands almost 6'4 at 235..He made first team TE all district, all region, and all state this past season..Not to mention my son is already being looked at..I truely believe there are alot of kids that will go on to college for football..There is so many amazing young athletes in 6man football...

The numbers are going up:) Maybe the number crunchers can get a list going...... This is some good reflection material.

I would think the multi-sport athlete always has a better chance. His/her ODDS would always be better.

Speaking of his/her.......Do we have any ladies that have aquired scholarships for one sport or another?

I say take advantage of track, because of all the track athletes that are being recruited by college football coaches these days. Coaches are looking for advantages by putting track stars at the WR position or even on the defense of side. I mean look at Baylor,TCU,Oregon a lot of their guys on their roster started out just as track athletes.

Both of my older boys played in college. My youngest plans on playing. My hope is that with more and more schools going to the spread or pistol. More young men from the 6 man world would be given the opportunity to play if they want to. I know that UTPB will have a team in a year or two.

Just an observation...
I have known 3 different 6man boys that tried to play fb in college. They all quit. But...I know one of the best 6man kids I've seen go for Track instead...and he's still after it! Hmm.

And I know tons of 11-man players who went to college for football that dropped out as well. With a 38% freshman drop out rate, it's a law of averages. Last year, we had three athletes go to college from
Buckholts, one football, one track, one basketball. All three still enrolled and the football player was the starting deep snapper as a freshman. It's a law of averages. Sometimes they work for us, other times against us; but that doesn't mean we stop trying to be on the 62% retention side of college enrollment.
Amen to never stop trying!!

My grandson played class C 6 man all through junior high and high school and actively sought a college scholarship this year as a senior. Many people advised him to move to an 11 man school to enhance his opportunities for college offers. He chose to remain. He was offered an athletic scholarship and will be playing NAIA college ball in the Frontier Conference.

Congrats to you and your grandson.

Thank you, Coach Satcher. Just responding to the inquiry. Many excellent athletes have been under the radar far too long. I'm glad to see that more colleges are tapping into the 6-man ranks. One has to be fast, versatile and have endurance to play 6-man.
