What do Y'all think?
While BU has beat top teams, they did not finish strong while TCU did.
BU beat # 9 tonight, and TCU, but is it enough?

Either Baylor or TCU - or both - will get the short end of the playoff stick. I would like to see Baylor make it, personally as they proved to be the better team than TCU when they played.

This whole playoff system, while a step above the utterly subjective ranking system, is a joke. Not until this season has the term "quality loss" been bantered about with respect to college football.

Big 12 will always be the mid-market step-sister of the SEC, Pac-12, and the Big 10.

If one were to take Baylor's schedule - or TCU's for that matter, and replace Baylor's name with Notre Dame, Notre Dame would be sitting and the #2 or #3 seed.

Both are getting hosed. This way, the Star Chamber Committee can wash their hands of the matter.

Alabama is in. This is always gonna be the SEC Invitational, and Alabama deserves the bid.

Oregon gets in. Why? But they get in. For all the money Nike throws at Oregon, you'd think they'd get better uniforms. I wonder if the guy who picks the uniforms also decorates the locker room, because I'm betting there are all sorts of velvet paintings of dogs playing poker throughout the locker room.

Ohio State probably is in. Beating Wisconsin 59-0 with a third string QB probably clinches the deal. The Badgers (or Ga. Tech) needed the win to bring a Big 12 team in.

Florida State, as one wag put it, makes it because of two words: Defending Champion. They won a JV league and only beat Notre Dame on a bad call.

But if Baylor hadn't had that bad game at WV ... and had a win over a big-5 conference team in non-district play, it might have been different.

I hope there is enough collective sense among the powers-that-be to understand OSU is not even a top-8 team.

It is beyond me how every division below D-1 can manage a playoff system and at the same time D-1 is like watching 15 aggies replace 5 light bulbs. I guess greed can make aggies out of the best of us.

Obviously not.

After the two exhibition games on Jan. 1, we'll have our Alabama/Oregon matchup.

And go ahead, engrave Bama on the trophy and beat the holiday rush.

Well said! D-1 football has been corrupted by politics and money. That's why you see the name Ohio State in the playoffs over Baylor and TCU. If it would of been Texas and Oklahoma at 11-1 they both would of got in the playoffs. Instead though its TCU and Baylor who's names aren't as big as those two. Also how can they say the big10 is a better conference then the big12? The big10 had like 5 or 7 of their teams lose to MAC conference teams, THE MAC conference for crying out loud! I also don't like the fact how they are still leaving out the smaller conference teams like Boise State, Marshall, UCF, etc.

I believe that if they had a 24 team playoff that allowed the right teams in, meaning conference champions from each conference. That a lot of those little name schools would be upsetting the big boys!

Baylor and Tcu both got screwed. The ncaa will not allow a big 12 team in that will put the smackdown bama again. Oklahoma proved last yr that bama can't stop the big 12 passing game. The made sure that the big 12 didn't embarrass the almighty sec again. I don't care who wins now as long as it isn't bama. They aren't the best team but the politics made sure they would have a chance to win it. I believe Baylor or Tcu could both beat alabama. They both should have been in the top 4.

Some of the earlier posts are correct - 11-1 teams like Ohio St (or had it been Texas or OU) do get in partly because of their "name value". The lesson to be learned here is that for schools like TCU, Baylor, or any other up-and-coming program, they can't give a committee any opportunity to screw them over in favor of a possibly less-deserving "name" school (like Ohio St).

In this case the committee held the horribly weak non-conference schedule against both of them: Samford, NW State, SMU, & Buffalo aren't going to cut it. The only half-decent non-conference win between the two of them was TCU over Minnesota. Baylor & TCU chose to schedule those games, and ultimately it came back to bite them. After this experience, my guess is that moving forward we will see some upgraded teams on their non-conference schedules in the very near future.

I honestly believe if the Big12 wants more respect they need to add more teams and play the conference championship game. Yet who do they add? I think UTSA and UH would be great additions but does the Big12 want more Texas teams? Then there's also the two Florida schools UCF and USF. Those two may not be power houses right now but if they were to get in a better conference I'm sure that Florida talent would choose those schools. Then there's also BYU who has said they would join the Big12 if they get the invite. Old Dominion is also another up and coming program that is making great strides and would be a good addition.

What killed the Big 12 was a weak wishy washy indecisive commissioner. Refusing to pick "one true champion" hurt both Baylor & TCU.

That's what Briles complained to the Big 12 commissioner about during the trophy presentation and to the press afterwards. Rightfully so, they run TV ads advertising that exact phrase. No matter how they did it, head to head, strength of schedule, coaches vote or something they should have honored their statement.
I feel sure Patterson will comment negatively too, he can't be happy being bumped out and behind Baylor.
Maybe they ought to have a to 10-12 team playoff system, even a sweet sixteen. Prove it on the field.

The big 12 definitely needs to add a couple of teams and have a conference championship. I would like to see Boise State, East Carolina or maybe BYU. I would consider Cincinnati just to watch the other beat up on Tubberville.

I would like to see Boise State in the Big12 but unfortunately all they can offer is a competitive football team. Which truly is all that matters but now since greed has taking over college football they will never get in a power conference. One they look at television marketing and I don't believe Boise Idaho's is that great. They also don't have a great recruiting base in Idaho either that the other teams in the Big12 could take advantage of. Also their kind of just way off geographically for the Big12. East Carolina has been decent these last couple of years but I don't see them making great strides to becoming competitive for the long haul. Then they did talk about adding Cincinnati along with West Virginia during the conference realignments but wind up not doing so. Plus now since they got that goofy coach tubberville I don't see nothing but that program going down!

Baylor non-conference schedule did them in.

At the VERY beginning when the College Football Committee was put together,
1st thing they said was YOUR NON CONFERENCE SCHEDULE would play in heavily...

BAYLOR PLAYED
SMU - won 0-45............SMU went 1-11, finished 10th in American Athletic Conference
Northwestern STATE - won 6-70..... went 6-6 in the southland conferece (located in Louisiana for those that didn't know)
Buffalo - won 63-21....went 5-6 in the Mid-American-Conf and finished 3rd in the EAST Division

2nd they did say they will look HEAVILY AT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS......
the big 12 had CO-CHAMPIONS.
And oddly enough, the Big12 motto is ONE TRUE CHAMPION and the GIVE 2 teams a trophy.

As for TCU.... Well they lost to Baylor and Baylor's Schedule was not too tough.

TCU and BAYLOR needs to find those WEAK ACC, Middle of the pack SEC Teams, ANY BIG 10 TEAM and the Middle of the pack PAC 12 Teams......
Baylor could easily schedule ..... Virginia, Iowa, Vanderbilt
TCU could easily schedule.... Kentucky, Wake Forest, Colorado

To me, OHIO STATE does not belong...

Decent points but when are schedules set? Wasnt this years schedule already set when the committee assumed power?
To me this all rests squarely on Bowlsby. Trying to get 2 teams in the top 4 was ludicrous.........

In my opinion, The inability/unwillingness to pick a champion cost the Big 12 around $6 million! And it wasn't even a tough decision. Use the same factors as every other high school, college or professional league would have used! MORONs abound.
