Best Games Of the Playoffs

Folks, I didn't see "Christway haters" on the board last week.

The "consensus" was that Brenham was going to eat up Christway quicker than a pregnant lady finishes off a half gallon of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

We was all wrong. Boy, were we wrong.

But you figure ... Brenham beat two undefeated teams on their way, one by 50 points ... and that team beat Christway by 30 points. It's easy to figure that chances are, you can be making plans for a nice dinner in Temple around 9 pm Saturday night, because that game shouldn't last that long.

But as the old saying goes, in fact, I think I'm the old guy who says it, the game is played on the field, not on paper.

And Christway proved that Saturday. And our dinner was crow, served much later on Saturday night.

Congrats to Christway ... you won it, you deserved it, and we're happy for you.

If this is you calm, i hate to see you excited... And i'm sure the boys are very humble... YOU sir are not.... i promise if Brenham had won, their fans would not be on this site saying stuff about haters and oh snap and all this take it and eat it type talk....that isn't humble... giving the glory to God is... whether you win or lose... you play for God .. he doesn't play for you... I never said yall were a bad team... but i think brenham is better... i think tyler street is better... i think lifegate is better... but that doesn't make duncanville a bad team.. i think if yall play again, brenham wins.... congrats to duncanville for winning....I just hate that these boys worked so hard to win this and its being overshadowed some fan who has to gloat about it..... and not just once.... you've been on every post that has anything to do with it saying this stuff.....its not classy.... They won... its over.... can't wait to see the seniors in the allstar game....

Again congrats Duncanville... you earned it

Jeremy ... Football is a best-of-one playoff, and as they say in the NFL, "On Any Given Sunday." Yep, maybe if Brenham and Christway played 10 games. Brenham wins the next 9. But they don't and all Christway had to do was win Saturday night. And they did. Brenham may have dug themselves into a hole, but Christway took advantage of it and built a lead that Brenham couldn't overcome.

The rule in the playoffs was that the first team to win four straight takes home a trophy. Christway did it. The rest of us did not.

You know, why is it that we in football (and some other high school/college sports where championships are decided on single game elimination playoffs) keep talking about "well, if we had played them four more times, we'd have won then all" or stuff like that.

Seems anytime we talk about playing somebody five times or ten times, the one team that would only win one of the five or ten ALWAYS seems to win that real game, the "first" game of the series that never was and never will be ...

Congrats again Christway. Boy was I wrong on this one. Fortunately, I have lots of company in that dog house.
