It's that time of year, and several districts no longer have any representatives left in the playoffs. If your district has released it's list of All-District or All-Star representatives, please post it here.

I posted this earlier in another topic...

I share Edward Golden's sentiments; too many players make All-District. It minimizes the prestige. Perhaps the game has changed without me knowing it, but I was surprised to see TWO tight ends making First Team.

The current all district teams are modeled on the same template as the All-State teams. I forget but some one told me that in a 4 team district who many slots went unfilled. Of course All state folks are (I think) only allowed to make the team either offense or defense. Sure that will bring some discussion, but am just repeating. Just saying

Two tight ends make first team because most teams run at least some tight. Having a center and two tight ends covers the O Line. I have suggested that we change the position from two tight ends to one "Guard" position and one "Tight End" position.

I agree. I run an unbalanced offense and I have a true guard. That's all he plays, and rarely if ever do we throw to him. But he gets nothing when we do district honors. It's not fair. We have defensive lineman honors, why not offensive.

i say having so many awards doesn't do anything but promote mediocrity.
Kids get accolades for just showing up. When asked why they work so hard, most kids say "I want to win championships" I've never heard a kid say I want to be 1st team all-district. (Some have said all-state)

I would like to see the numbers of 1st team all-district honors be based on the number of teams in the district and based on D1/D2

For example: a D2 4 team district could have 7 1st team awards after offensive MVP.
Make it an All-star type team not based on positions.

Then the same at all-region. If you are one of the top 8 players in a 16 team region, now that's something to be proud of. Not you are the TE with most TDs because your team threw the ball more than others.

I've seen too many 1st team honors who wouldn't start for the #1 or #2 teams in the district.

Does anyone else feel like there needs to be a change?

I think they should narrow down how many spots there are for sure. I think just picking the top 10 players would work. 7 seems a little too narrow to me. I'm sure a lot of teams have the 7 best players in their district.

As of now there are 13 offensive and 12 defensive awards (including the MVPs)
And there are 3 special teams: K, Punter, and Special teams player

Bring it down to 8 on both sides of the ball
And just K for special teams.
