Week 11 Schedules and Scores

I anticipate some additions, changes and corrections. At least one league (TCAL) starts playoffs in Week 11 and I don't believe those games have been scheduled.

John - Thanks for posting. However a small correction. The TCAF playoff games that have been designated are to be played in Springtown not Springdale. That's Porcupine Stadium northwest of Ft. Worth.

500 Pojo Rd, Springtown, TX 76082

Thanks for the updates everyone. I should have all of these in the schedule. Also I believe the stadium is already programmed in my db correctly, but I will check.

Springdale, Springtown, BoxSprings, I knew it was Spring-something ...

The schedule shows that Arlington Newman was supposed to play Dallas Inspired Vision last night at 6:30pm. This is a first round TCAF Division I playoff game. Was this game played? Or is the schedule wrong? Does a playoff game not warrant someone taking the 30 seconds to report the score? Or at least letting someone know that the schedule is wrong?

Not trying to get on a soapbox here. But I have seen numerous posts about the private sector of our great sport being treated like step children........ But we can't even get someone to report a score or a schedule correction?

Edited:
Dallas Inspired Vision 33
Arlington Newman 32

Thank you HisTeam for posting the score.

I think one of the things to keep in mind is that this website, although great is not the official TAPPS, UIL, TCAL, TCAF and whatever league website. It is for entertainment purposes only. A lot of schools, coaches, players, teams, etc don't get on here, don't have a twitter and don't feel the need to report to sixmanfootball.com. I just think it's important to remember that the sixman world does not revolve around this website. That games get played and reported to their respective leagues and there is nothing wrong with that. Scores eventually get on this website, maybe not the night of the game but eventually they make it on here. Tap the brakes a little.

I would have to strongly and respectfully disagree. The sixman world absolutely revolves around this site, at least as far as information goes. I went to the TCAF website and couldn't find it on there either. In fact, they still had the game that was played on Thursday night listed for Friday night. Also, their website had no locations listed at all, so there's that........ and have you been to the TCAL sight? Good luck finding ANY useful information there.
But as far as scores getting reported, I guess since they feel that it will EVENTUALLY make it here, then I shouldn't see any more posts about how the private sector is treated like step children.
It was just a small observation, not a big deal. Was just wondering why it is that 99% of public schools games get reported almost immediately, but a private school PLAYOFF game isn't deemed important enough to get even 1 person to come on here and brag about how their team played a great game and pulled off a 1 point win to move on to the second round.

What did we do before this site? Did we play football? Did we record scores? Yes... we did and everything worked out fine.

"The sixman world absolutely revolves around this site, at least as far as information goes."

This is where I would disagree, my great-grandparents don't even know what a computer does. They call my grandma 5 times a day to ask how to work the TV remote. But guess what? They get up every morning, walk outside, grab the newspaper, read it, and show up for every game...playoff, scrimmage, etc. My point is that there other ways of distributing scores, locations etc. and that we shouldn't hate on teams that don't get on here (our favorite) website to distribute their information. It doesn't make a school or league any less legit cause they aren't plugged into sixmanfootball.com.

Everything did not "work out fine" we are still searching for scores from the 80s and earlier. Scores that obviously weren't reported. It's not that difficult to text a final score to me or Granger, and if you don't know how to text, call me.

Are your great-grandparents keeping up with 260+ teams?
I never said less legit, or less important. In fact, I was making it a point that they were just as important, and that out of two teams, 1 person (coach, admin, parent, fan) would take the time to either 1: report that their team that was picked to get 45'd kept it within 1 point and almost pulled off an upset, or b: report that their team has won their first ever 6 man playoff game.

What DID we do before this site? Hmmmm, wake up on Saturday morning and go through the newspaper, only to be dissapointed that the game that we wanted to know the score to isn't in there. If you were lucky, it would be in Sunday's paper, but not usually. Sometimes it was 5 or 6 days before you could find out the score, if at all.
My role in the sixman world is distributing information. Your great-grandparents role is to go watch Jr play football. They can stick a schedule to the fridge with a magnet and they are set for the year. Or just let Grandma remind them during 1 of the 5 phone calls per day that Jr has a game. Either way, it is irrelevant to my point. The point is, it is now 2014, not 1983, and it would take, literally, a few seconds, for ONE person to text and or get on their smart phone and post a score. In the meantime, I will be thankful that I am not relying on your great-grandparents for the information of 260+ teams.

Yikes ... I take a night off and you guys go all crazy on me.

Collecting private school scores is a bit like "herding cats." Thankfully, we have things like the internet and several of the private school leagues are using either commercially available sites (such as Maxpreps) or in-house programs (such as TAPPSter) to collect scores and determine standings.

But any system is only as good as the people feeding information to them. I would wish that coaches and athletic directors would honor the young men who put on the uniform to recognize their effort -- and their score, win or lose -- publicly. These young men are continuing a great tradition -- TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL. Maybe it's "only" 6 man and maybe it's private schools and home schools and some might shirk it off as only a step above sandlot -- but it is still TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

One last "when I was a kid" story about calling in scores.

Many, many moons ago (no cell phones, no internet, clay tablets and stone age ...), one of my high school jobs was calling in scores after the games. It was back in a cold, cold state ... by the way, no texts or phone calls accepted tonight between 7 and 10:30 pm while I watch religious programming from Lambeau Field ...

I still remember the routine ... the HOME team was responsible for calling in the score to the Associated Press and UPI 800 numbers because each had their own systems. Plus, you usually had to call the local paper if they didn't send a reporter (which, like now, were reserved for the larger local teams) AND the three or four TV stations in your market for their evening news, and if it was a district game, you had to call the District (or we would call them Conference) President. They figured that the HOME team wasn't traveling home by dog sled from the game and had time to do this before they counted up the gate receipts.

Oh, and you didn't call and say "Podunk 45, East Bug Tussle 33." Well, maybe to the AP, UPI and TV. Certainly to the District President you'd have to give him the COMPLETE STATS for BOTH TEAMS (that means you kept stats on your opponents if you were the home team). And this was within an hour after the game ended. Oh, yeah, and in those days long ago, the most expensive long distance call you could make was to somebody about 20 miles away, just outside of the local calling area. I should maybe explain this concept of "long distance phone rates"...never mind. But these calls with the District President could take 20 minutes or more, especially early in the season when you were spelling each and every name.

Yet, we have folks in the days of "Smart Phones," almost unlimited cell range, and the world wide web folks that can't call in an accurate score from a varsity high school football game.

I'll give TAPPS credit on one thing ... they got serious about score reporting with TAPPSter. You get one kind and friendly warning about posting your scores within 48 hours of a game. After that, the head coach gets a monetary fine and a one-game suspension. Second time, more money and a longer suspension. From what I've heard, additional penalties have not been necessary.
