Water Valley vs. Rochelle

WV Backer

Six-man pro
After two big wins in a row the Wildcats get Rochelle for Homecoming. If things go according to plan Water Valley should run the table the rest of the year. Problem is, games are played on the field and you never know what will happen with high school football. I believe that, if the Wildcats just keep their noses to the grindstone and don't start looking too far ahead, they'll go into the playoffs undefeated and looking for a better result than last year. They'll probably get Garden City in the first round although a rematch with Rankin is not too far-fetched. I don't think Sierra Blanca or Ft. Davis has the horses to break into the top two. Anyone got a different opinion?

If you have access, a defibrillator and supplemental Oxygen might be some good assets to have around when this playoff bracket gets started.

I think you are being a little humble. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think WV has, at worst, 3rd best team in state. If they don't make the big game, it will be because of a lack of big game experience. Definitely got the talent and seem to have the desire.

I think these last two wins will go a long way when it comes to knowing how to win a good, tough game against a top-notch opponent. The kind of game they'll have in the playoffs out here in the West.

Run the table huh, I'm so glad that everyone assumes Rochelle is an easy win. This is a different team these last four weeks. So WV Backer, be careful running the table cause u just might slip.

Don't know much about WV this year but I don't really see them being outcoached by anyone unless it might be Garden City. I know they have some very good athletes and have who I think is one of the top coaches in the state. Good luck wildcats throughout the rest of the season.

I know Coach Owens will be focused like a laser on Rochelle. It would be easy for the boys to let down after the last two big games. It's easy to look past because it's non-district, but if they want to keep that 0 in the loss column, they better pay attention. Rochelle would love to spoil our homecoming and they are very capable.

Hornet Nation,
I believe that Water Valley has a better team than Rochelle and they are playing in Water Valley. That being said, I did mention that the Wildcats "need to keep their noses to the grindstone and don't start looking too far ahead". The average fan would realize that means they can't take Rochelle for granted and I doubt that Coach Owens would let that happen anyway. Don't worry Hornet Nation, your team will get it's proper due and all the preparation that comes with it. I doubt that the WV wants to lose their Homecoming game so I'm sure Rochelle will get the benefit of the full gameplan and all of the starters. I can only assume that's what you really want... right? The full monty, don't hold back and all that kind of stuff? Good luck to the Rochelle Hornets and all their fans coming to the game.

I'm sure WV doesn't want to lose there homecoming and I'm positive this will be the toughest game for Rochelle so far this year, it will be good to see how we fair against a top team. I would expect nothing less than everything they got. But what do I know I am just an average fan, good luck Friday to both teams.

Heck I could have already used this equipment! Seems like we have already had 3 playoff games in mid season.

Well said Fan In Black.... the last few games had me on the edge of my seat. It's been exciting and I really look forward to every single game. There's just too many other days in between Friday nights... but those young guns on Thursdays are doing extremely well too! JV is 6-0 as well!! Great job guys!!

I really believe these Wildcats have a lot of heart and desire to win no matter how critical or uncritical the game is. Keep up the hard work Wildcats and remember... nothing is given to you... you have to earn it!!!

GO WILDCATS!!!

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched! Rochelle is a good football team!
They are rated #19 in state...
I know Water Valley has a great football team, but you never know what will happen.
Wildcats, keep focused on one week at a time and keep doing what your doing!!!

I hear there are 2 players that may sit this one out. If this is true the "full monty" may have to wait a week or so. Any Wildcat fans know anything about these guys sitting this one out?

My curiosity is also aroused. How is 44? He did not play the second half. Looked like an ankle was bothering him. I also noticed they did not utilize their speed back(20/22) some # like that, that seemed to be the fastest. Did not say the best. WV has several backs that anyone would like to have. Its nice to have the # of players to sub 3 on offense as a routine, and not be able to tell a difference in effectiveness. Good luck Cats.

I saw Ft. Davis Saturday. I like their offense. Don't really care about rankings but you better not overlook the Indians. If they can make one or two stops they could go a long way in the playoffs.

Smokey, are you predicting Fort Davis and Rankin in playoffs? No GC? I'm just curious. It's a shame for that district. Seems like they all 3 could make it almost every year if not in same district.

No predictions. I was just impressed with the Indians. I think they only have one senior and if they can get their defense playing on the same level as their offense, they're gonna be tough for the next few years.

I too was surprised that the Fort Davis gave Throckmorton a full game and only 22 point difference at that. Seems like both of those teams needed to step up on defense. Just too many points given up on both sides of the ball. I personally think defense is what wins championships.
