Today History will be Re-Written

Ok. This is my last post on this thread. I've made some people mad. I've misconstriued some of my thoughts and I've made a few poorly written posts and that is nobody's fault but mine. Here is the deal though.

Until a 6 man record book officially exists lance morris should be the Texas all time leading rusher. Period.

If a six man record book is ever created then we need to not compare apples and oranges.

Holy crap 11,000 yards is a lot. No matter what you think of me or my posts Lance Morris accomplishment is still unprecedented. Kudos.

I still think it is EASIER to run the ball in 6 man. Just my opinion.

Congrats Lance on a great season and a great career.

In 2009 Ira had a game cancelled and they picked up Blackwell one week, had an open week, and then one week there was a lot of rain and lightning that effected games and the Ira game that week was cancelled and not refilled

Weeb--- Never said it was not easier to move the ball in 6-man just the opposit. Refer to the 6-man exceptions, exchange rule, 1st and 15, two point conversion vs 1 point conversion. I doubt you will find any 6-man fan that would say it is the same offense for 6 vs 11 man. Most posting I think simply believe that the accomlishments of Mr. Morris should be acknowledge as the record for most rushing yards in Texas High School Histroy. I would argue that if you want a "6-man" record book then you need on for every class not just 6-man. The best thing about this whole thing is I will be able to make the trip to Big Spring and watch Ira/Rankin Saturday. Good luck to both teams.

So what can we the people do to see that this accomplishment is properly recognized? Nothing? Is anyone at the UIL even aware of it or acknowledged it? Support, a letter(?) from the sixman coaches association might help. Compared to the numbers of 11 man fans the entire sixman nation could rise up and they would probably never even notice us. Although a petition might be a place to start. Such a thread on here (with Granger's blessing) could help. Maybe a place to sign one by the concession stands on both sides for both games on Dec 15th.
I don't care if they do put a asterisk that says sixman by it, it would be recognition.
They can put a double asterisk after that that says does not include 8th grade stat's like the kid in Florida.
Just food for thought.

I don't think a article in a local or regional paper will influence the UIofL much but that could be a start, get their attention maybe. From their score posting on here I think the Waco paper still supports 6m. Maybe Don Hardin could twist an arm in Abilene or Lubbock. Granger must know somebody at the Statesman. HPD could wrassle the sports editor in San Angelo.

Been trying to do all this for years, UIL, NFHS, various magazines that publish stats and records, including Dave Campbell's which I do write for, and they are slow moving and it usually falls on deaf ears...however I am making head way with the guys at DC's and have high hopes that next years issue will have 6-man stats in the back of he book along side the 11-man guys...like I said I have been working on this for almost 4 years now

Thank you. Lord know's it's frustrating. Brick walls are hard on the head (even with a helmet).

Friends I've been brainstorming, you know, no idea is too outlandish. First I thought, what would Goob do? Then I tried to think opposite (he can speak well for himself if he ever comes back). I figured he probably doesn't like lawyer's any more than most of the rest of us. So we need to hire one. Sue the UIL for Recognition. Not money or defamation. If everybody on here pitched in $10-20 bucks we might get a half arsed thief. But! Somewhere out there must be a kind hearted attorney from a sixman town with a soft spot for the old home team............(who would like to see his name in the paper/news, just in case he ever runs for political office).

So, if we could get an average of 100 per town to sign a petition that would be 13,500. Within shouting distance of 20K, maybe not respectability, but again, could gain attention.

Thank you sir, and thanks to Don Hardin and Coach Goodwin for the help in confirming the stats

And I suggest everyone go to Dave Campbell's Texas Football page on facebook and comment on the story with their 2 cents! And read everyone elses comments too!

For what it is worth...

Derrick Henry in Florida rushed for 189 yards on 46 carries and his team won their playoff game 16-13...so he will get another crack at adding to his career rushing total.

Derrick Henry - 11,802

Lance Morris - 11,605

Go Lance Go
