Thinking of Don

I just wanted to mention that I have been thinking about Don this past weekend (and not just because he looked a lot like Walter White).

I was glancing through my inbox last week and noticed I had quite a few from Don. I save certain messages from people for a long time if they have important information. I saw one dating back to June 1, 2009, so I read it thinking was probably something real important to be saved for so long.... Here's what it said

GOOD FOOTBALL TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, that's it.

It made me tear up a little and it made me smile really big.

Don was in the middle of putting together his personal coaching directory and had been sending me updates as we entered the final days before having to close out Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine. He just wanted to wish me well after sending me some last minute coaching changes.

We miss you Don. Good football to you, buddy.

Week 3 this year Luders Avoca played at Strawn. Wife felt puny & didn't want to go, Hounds were favored heavily, so I stayed home and listend to the webcast. They did a trivia question: who was the special guest broadcaster for the Strawn-Leuders 2011 playoff game? I looked for a pen but forgot the phone (text) # before I found one. Dang it! A few minutes later the announcer said I can't believe no one has got this.........
Don, thanks for the tickets to the Majestic Theater in Eastland.
I remember congratulating Don on LA's best season since the days he played there.

I miss Don also. He was such a good friend. When he passed I wonder what he's thinking in Heaven. It hurts to know he's gone but he lives in my heart forever.
