Just because there are exceptions doesn't mean the point is mute. If there wasn't an issue with spring sports, the UIL would've never created 6A and let the 1A teams have their own track division. As a coach, I greatly benefited from that split. We had a kid get beaten at regionals in the discus by some "2A" kids. One of them being a current NFL player. After the split, he's the state champion the next year. It matters, if it didnt' then everyone would all be lumped together no matter the enrollment. Those schools are already at a disadvantage playing 11man football with less kids, having their vball, bball, bsball, and track kids go against teams that could be almost 2.5-3times bigger than them is a punishment. Its ok for smaller schools to still want to play 11man football, its a community decision, how does it affect anyone but them?
