Waking up ~ and quite amazed at some of the posts. I am the "Mom" who ran on the field to check on her son...and Yelled "Play Fair" to EVERYONE ~ Brenham and Seguin! And...I can assure you we heard some "YELLING ~ AND Craziness" from the Seguin sidelines

Nevermind. But I've seen kids taken off field and airlifted from a football field. And I didn't see their mommas running on to the field. And in 50 years of watching professional, college and high school football, I've never seen a momma run out to the field to take care of their kid. I have seen a couple times when coaches called a parent to come out to the field.

(You know, I grew up watching the Packers and Vince Lombardi ... gosh, what would have Lombardi done if some momma or wife darted out of the stands to attend to her injured son or husband...)

Congrats on the win. Your guys were the bettter team out there.

Would it help to know that "momma" is also a nurse??

I have thought about this some more and decided to bloviate (sp) -
I would not go out onto the field until called - that is ME - mainly because my sons would of chewed me out if I did. I have been called out on to the field twice - and I assure you it is one of the scariest moments in your life.

HOWEVER - everyone is different and I RESPECT AND DEFEND this mom's right to check on her son on the field - he was trying to get up and couldn't and was obviously hurt in some manner - I doubt if she knew exactly what had happened when she came out of the stands - but even if she did know - that is her son out there - not mine, not yours. So you men are gonna have to cut us some slack on this one please.

Yep 6manmomma ~ I did not get "chewed out" but lets say I got a "talkin to" for going on the field from Dad & Son. Dad/Husband is an ER DR. When the oldest son has "gone down" on the field in the past I knew all was well Dad/Husband is always there when a player goes down....I have never run out on the field until yesterday...yesterday it was different..I had never seen him like he was...had no idea what was wrong.

I do honestly apologize to anyone if my "running" on the field was offensive. I LOVE the game of 6 Man Football and had no intentions of disrespecting anyone ~ especially players, coaches, and refs ~ Just to make "lifegate sports" feel better, there were chains in a bag on the kitchen table this afternoon when I got home from church...I have a funny feeling I will be the momma shackled to the bleachers at the state game

Great Game...Great Teams...Brenham I thank you for the gift of watching you play this season! Seguin, Thank You for calling our team to be prepared, and allowing us to grow! What a wonderfully fun season it has been so far. Brenham keep playing as ONE Team, unified. Keep talking with your pads and playing with your hearts for "HIM" .....ONE Game Left! Prepare!

Gods Blessings Sprinkled
"Momma"

Let's agree on this. No fan (momma or otherwise) should be going out on ANY game field unless SPECIFICALLY requested to by the coaches and/or officials. Heck, most kids I know would be screaming AT momma to get away.

Fans at ANY game should be sitting or standing BEHIND a line drawn from the back of the team benches to the endzones AND a similar distance behind the endzones.

Maybe TAPPS needs to require that all football games be attended by a police officer/sheriff deputy to remind folks of these limits.

Let's say you're a teacher. Would you like it if I came into your classroom, sat where ever I wanted to, and when ever I wanted to comment or berate you, your students, or kids in another classoom? Would you tolerate it? Chances are, you'd physicially remove me from your classroom or have it done. Playing field is the same thing.

Game's over. Brenham won. And deserved it. Good luck this next weekend.

Lifegatesports, I agree with big6football. The game and the situation with a players mom coming on the field is over. I wasn't there but from the sound of it she went out as a concerned parent, any caring parent I figure would do that for their son. Also you may not be the best one to be commenting about this, seeing you have ties to Seguin and this game. That's just my opinion from the outside looking in. God Bless!

Who cares...much to do about nothing...POLICE really?!!! It made no difference on the game! No mother or sideline fans were responsible for seguin getting their rears beat! Maybe seguin should get some fired up mommas...haha!

On the rogue coach and medic...I believe this brought up by the officials after being consulted by seguins coach (although it may not have been the topic of the conversation)

We got beat by a much, much better team. No issue there. And the VAST majority of Brenham folks were solid, fine people. I can't say that I enjoyed watching our butts get whipped harder since I was in the third grade and teacher caught me lying, but I enjoyed meeting Box Dad and others from the Brenham side. I have nothing but respect for Coach Matt and his kids.

But I can tell you no momma from our side would be running out on the field. Nor would "fans" or trainers be running down the sidelines shouting at opposing players. Nor would another fan use an obscene gesture to a student athlete after the game, indicating he was a piece of female anatomy. Because that would be stopped on our side of the field. As for fired up mommas, we actually do have a few of those.

Unfortunately, yesterday was one of those days where we forgot to bring a match. Or probably because our opponent brought one heck of a super-sized fire extinguisher. I'll go with the latter.

Maybe I'm going a little crazy here, but I still think that having a police officer (and an EMS tech as well) at football games isn't a bad thing. People are a little spread out, can get too close to the action and just the appearance of a uniformed person sometimes will keep a situation from developing. Was I suggesting that Momma be hauled off to the Leander jail and tossed in the clink? Nah. But a little respect for the work coaches do and their work place would be nice. Unfortunately, at our level, there aren't the facilities (ie fences) or people (security) to require fans to stay in the seating/stands area. It's on the honor system and it's easier to take as much as you can get. Maybe it was a discussion for another day, and that's my bad.

Momma said she got an earful from her son and husband afterwards. ... oh, and one thing about getting a hit in the family jewels. You may feel and sound like you're gonna die. But you don't. Still think an investment in a good old fashioned cup isn't a bad decision ... like my old high school coach used to say, if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter ...

Lifegate - you are making some pretty ugly accusations there - I suggest you contact our head coach directly if you haven't already - and tell him what you saw so he can address it. I was sitting in the bleachers behind our EMT guy who was running down the sideline and he wasn't yelling at your players, he was yelling at his son - yelling encouragement. So if you heard something different or saw someone make a "gesture" please report it - we are NOT that kind of organization.

And I stand by them. I know some of them were discussed with your coaching staff.

total agreement with lifegate here. these are highschool boys, noone wants there mamma runnin out onto the field. idk what i would have done if mine ever had. also, unlike lifegate, i have 0 ties to the game. stuff should not be happenin

Every time ive ever seen a player get hurt ive seen a parent go out on the field...yall must of been deprived as a child lol. And by the way, she wouldnt of have to gone out there if "stuff" didnt happen. Jeeze she was checking on hurt son, give her a break.

I agree with the other guy and sixmanmomma. I agree to a point that parents shouldn't come out onto the field for minor injuries (sprains, cramps, etc...). But if your son is down for an extended amount of time and not moving, and their motioning from the sidelines to get medical help, then you better believe parents have a right to come on the field! Now for you guys that say you would have been embarressed for your mom or dad to come down on the field for an injury, I agree. It would be embarassing for your parents to come down out of the stands and tend to your paper cut you got from serving water to the real athletes! HAHA!

how do you get a paper cut with water? have had this conversation with my mom, she has said before she would never do that, and i made her say it multiple times. especially for a good ol knee to the fellers haha

Well, you high school kids should put your pride aside. Ive seen college players go down and parents go out to the field. And the kid was on the ground in pain. They didnt know immediately what was going on so the mom went out on the field. And my understanding was he almost went to the hospital after the game. But hey, BCA should thank number 19. That only made them more pumped it seemed like lol. ANd I think getting 45D before half in a playoff game is a little more embarrassing than a mom checking to see if her son is ok

Today, I recieved an apology which I will send along to the young man who was shown a rude gesture following Saturday's game.

I appreciate his honesty in coming forth.

Lots of things were said after that game ... and I know not all the saints were on the south side of the field. Last I checked, that halo over my head had a couple horns keeping it balanced. Rather nicely, may I add.

We still got our butts whipped by a much, much, much better team. Can't say that was the most enjoyable Saturday afternoon I ever spent in my life.
