Predictions for October 12 games in District 6.

Game of the week will be BALMORHEA at SIERRA BLANCA. Two evenly matched teams in my opinion. WEATHER could play a factor in that game tonight. It should be a back and forth game, but I think the Vaqueros will come out on top with a win.

A Sierra Blanca upset of Balmorhea will make the race for the runner-up spot in District 6 very interesting and will make next weeks game between the Vaqueros and the Sanderson Eagles in Sanderson a HUGE, HUGE game. And for any of those people who think that a team OTHER than Grandfalls has a shot at 1st place in this district - check yourself into the nearest NUT HOUSE!! GRANDFALLS WILL PROBABLY MAKE IT TO THE STATE GAME IN ABILENE. THEY ARE THAT GOOD.

Anyway. Good luck to all the teams tonight and may all the fans on the road tonight have a safe trip.

I'm not sure what is right in this district, it just seemed odd to me that one team had 4 away and 1 home in district, so I looked at their school website and went by that one. Also one team had 4 home, 1 away, so I did the same there. If anyone sees a wrong one, let me know and I will fix it, please tell me where you got your info so that I can verify.

Well my upset in Sierra Blanca did not happen. The Bears pulled out a victory. Congrats!! Heard that the Vaqueros finally showed up in the 2nd half. They scored 44 points in the 2nd half but it was too little too late as they were down 30 to 0 at half. It sounds like it was a shootout in the 2nd half between the Bears and Vaqueros.

Looks like the Sanderson Eagles had a tougher time than expected against the Dell City Cougars who only had 7 players. If the Vaqueros play in Sanderson like they did the 2nd half against the Bears, then it should be one heck of a game in Sanderson on Friday night between the Eagles and Vaqueros. If the Eagles win, they will undoubtedly control thier own destiny toward a playoff berth. If they lose, they will still be in the hunt, but it will make things a little harder. If the Vaqueros lose, it will give them two district losses and with Grandfalls still on the schedule, they will virtually be out of the playoff hunt.

As expected Grandfalls easily won against Buena Vista as they continue to hardly break a sweat against their opponents. Looking into the crystal ball, the Cowboys will win this district, setting up a great game against Robert Lee in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I wouldn't be surprised if grandfalls didn't go all 4 quarters until the semi's. They're my pick from the west. Would like to see balmorhea vs grandfalls again in round 3.
