Preseason Ramblings

FYI, I understand that all Gordon games will be played away this season due to the storm damage to Gordon's football complex. So I assume that Gordon will play Strawn in the friendly confines of Greyhound Stadium this September.

According to the schedule Gordon posted the game location is @TBD.

I’ve always followed the East in both divisions more so than I have the West. Like everyone this year I am already going to pick Gordon in Division 1 to represent that side of the bracket. For Division 2, my favorites were Strawn and Iredell battling it out for the path to state. However, I came across a comment that now has me questioning that choice. Does anyone know if there is any weight to this?
Oakwood will definitely be in the mix

Makes little difference where they play the outcome will be the same. That whole unfortunate situation probably just gave them boys more fuel for the fire. We’ve all seen a kid or maybe two on the same team that just blew our minds but that Gordon Sr class has set a new standard. Fun to watch except when you’re playing against them.

Best kept secret in the east will be making a run and I won't name the school lol. Just wait and get your popcorn ready.

D1 or D2? But also what's the point in even bringing it up if you won't say the school? How will we know if you were right? Because if a team comes out of nowhere and has a good season you can say I told you so no matter what school it is?

But anyways has anyone heard where coach Rigdon ended up? Something tells me he won't be coching at Arizona State.

I don't think they needed any more fuel. These guys have been running on full since they were freshman. I just want to see how those 11 man games go. 11 man games are won and lost in the trenches. I'm not sure Gordon can stack up there.

Random thoughts.
Both State Champs come from Palo Pinto County in 2025.
Jayton only threat is Klondike. Some cities just can’t beat certain towns regardless of talent. Strawn with the addition of two players (I wasn’t 100 percent if two of the kids on the relay were on the football team last year. Maybe they were) and this has been a good group for Strawn for quite sometime and is senior heavy, returning everyone off a sprint relay that was a broke foot away from being State champions. I think with the loss of Jaytons most two physical players they could be in for an upset.
I don’t see anyone challenging Strawn in the East. Iredell lost kids to moving out. But Strawn has speed and obviously going to be physical.

Aquilla should be the best on the East D1 to get to semifinals. But Milford and St Joe look really talented and St Joe took a slew of kids to State Track. I’m taking St Joe out of that region.

D1 west. I’m going to go with Westbrook.
Turnovers and Defense will be fixed and I think they win close ones all the way through.
Water Valley, Whiteface, and BC will obviously be as good. But I just have a thinking that I like what Westbrook has back and will be there in the end.
WV out of the west hands down

I believe you can do your own research. It'll be known football season. Some people know... ask them

Can confirm that he won’t be coaching at Arizona State. He’s coaching 6-man here in Texas still. His D2 team has a real chance to surprise people & make some noise, imo.

Oh sorry you thought I didn't really know. You thought it was coincidence I said both things in the same post? Maybe @crawford is right and you need to put the bottle down. 😂
I honestly dont care what you think about me man. Glad you figured EVERYTHING out lol... whatever helps you sleep at night. You need a pat on the back wittle fella? 😂😂😂
-Im good with Crawford by the way.

With Mike’s experience and knowledge, both in 6 and 11 man, he will be able to “hide” any player that doesn’t match up, and overpower them with his super athletes. You can be sure that Mike Reed will be the difference in those contests.

Those two eleven man schools don't appear to be major competition for Gordon if their last year records are any indication of ability. Still will be interesting how the game is played, one half six man and one half eleven man maybe? I remember Windthorst played Throckmorton a game or two like that several years ago.

My understanding is that both Gordon 11-man games will be played as full 11-man games. Yes, I believe you're right about the Windthorst/Throckmorton games though. Didn't they also play a game where it was 11-man when Windthorst was on offense and 6-man when Throckmorton was on offense? Seems like that's something I heard around here, locally, but I could be mistaken.

I believe they played the 1st half 11man and then the 2nd half 6man. Throck ended up winning by a lot when 6man was played. Says.something about the great sport of 6man football right?
