I’ve always followed the East in both divisions more so than I have the West. Like everyone this year I am already going to pick Gordon in Division 1 to represent that side of the bracket. For Division 2, my favorites were Strawn and Iredell battling it out for the path to state. However, I came across a comment that now has me questioning that choice. Does anyone know if there is any weight to this?

It's been rumored that the fast kid from Iredell is moving to Gordon, which would make their track team even stouter than it already is. Don't know if there is any truth to it though.

Moving for athletic purposes will trump even the parents moving into the district. Just ask the kid that moved from Gordon to Strawn about four years ago.

If a family sells their house and physically moves into another house in another district how do you prove its for Athletic purposes? There could be a thousand different reasons they moved.

It doesn’t matter, if Iredell were to mark moving for athletic purposes, UIL would deny him

Being denied is not automatic and if a coach marks that down when a family really does move then every other coach should deny any transfers to that school or coach. I know I would.

If the decent kind of athlete and his family were moving to some “also ran” run of the mill town, nobody would even pay him any mind. But if they land in a town with a good program and a great coach, they are all a bunch of no-good cheatin’ sob’s!
And that’s just the way a lot of stupid people think.

It will usually end up being decided by the district committee. If a coach and or administrator marks the paper they fill out that they are moving for athletic purposes, the committee can then decide the eligibility of the player. When appealed to the UIL, they almost always follow the committees lead.

UIL don't need much proof. Their proof is someone checked the right boxes on the form or the kid told a friend he was moving to another school and they might win a state championship.

In Texas football players are considered indentured servants with very few rights other than pinball machines and cellphones, just check out those UIL competition review committee videos. Some of those inspired committee members are actually awake during the taping. Lol

May vs Whiteface week 1 could be a decent game. Not sure what May will be bringing back, but Whiteface is bringing several back. Could be an upset for May.

According to DCTF Whiteface lost 3 starters on both sides of the ball. May lost 1 starter on both sides on the ball. And both schools have new HC. Should be a good game.

I would assume it will be a good one and will be held at the "Sixman Palace off 35". Rumor is Oglesby has Fossets replacement ready to rock and roll. Abbott graduated almost everyone from a year ago. Willey is back for the Panthers and should anchor the defense. I would guess both teams are young and hungry with something to prove. A great coaching match up for sure. I think that is what the game comes down to. Whoever gets out coached loses this one.
