I know those boys a little, and I know Coach Hargraves will have them prepared. Brenham might win, Christway might win! game is played on the field not on sixmanfootball.com. Much respect to both teams for making it this far!

On paper, this should be a pretty easy Brenham win.

But as the old saying goes, the game is played on the field, not on paper. And since everybody went ahead, lined up the field, the refs, and printed a program, let's just go ahead and play the game and see what happens.

If some of us had been online back in the days of David and Goliath, ol' David might have stayed home that night, too.

Cause if I remember the papers back then, big ol' Goliath was pretty highly rated. Course, if Goliath had done the Old Testament version of 45'ing David, we'd never heard of David.

Nothing else to say. Brenham will cruise to a big lead with their starters and the 2nd stringers will mop up the game until halftime.

I believe Brenham will win the game. However, IF Christway can pressure the Brenham QB when they go spread and get in the backfield when they are in tight, then we might have a game. Both those IF'S are not likely. I see #3 on Christway having a good game and keeping the game close for awhile. Brenham is too strong up front on both sides of the ball, they have too many weapons on offense for Christway to be able to match up with them. I think the game will probably go the distance because Christway has one of the best backs in the state and he alone will keep it close for awhile like I said earlier. My prediction-Brenham by 30+

In last years TCAF state game, no one was giving us a chance. Truthfully we didn't play well down the stretch. But we decided to show up anyway. We very easily 45'd TLC. Jerry Hargraves was my offensive coordinator. He has been in the big game before and so have his players. Do not count them out so quickly. I pray God's best for both teams and let's see how it works out on the field.

Good luck to both teams. IMHO, the smaller the school the harder to predict an outcome. One kid becomes ineligible, another twists a knee on the second series...and they are a different team.

Sure wish the start time was not 7:00pm!!! Would have been more honoring of the kids efforts if TAPPS would have worked this as a double-header.

Thanks, Pastor Miles. Gives me hope for "my" team.

Christway has gone though a lot this year. Think about it - they changed coaches (great job, Coach Hargraves) and here they are in the title game with only one loss for the year. They are a very small school with great values.

As I said in an earlier post, I fear the worst but hope for the best. I don't think that Christway will lay down - I think they will play hard and if a few turnovers go their way, who knows. This is an important game but, it's just a game. I pray all of these young men play to their ability and all walk away with their head held high.

Good luck, Chaps. Go blue and gold!!

TAPPS has moved the spread (time between start of finals games) from 6 hours to 7 1/2 hours this year (not only for 6 man but for the crowded field version as well). As I understand it, part of the reason is that the venues used only have two locker rooms. Even with a six hour spread, there was issues with one team ending their game (and on an emotional high/low, depending on the outcome) and another starting their game preparation in the same room.

With an 11:30 start time, even a game that goes an overtime and the end-of-game honors (trophy presentation, etc.) should be done by 3:00. Give the team an hour to shower and dress and they're out at 4:00, 4:30 at the latest. And around 5:00, that's the earliest I'd be bringing my squad into the locker room for a 7:00 game.

Sorry I won't be in Moody today. Wish I were.

If yall want a real state championship i know a Lifegate football team that would love to take Duncanville's place.... lol honestly the score doesn't reflect how close that game was... Duncanville will not stop brenham... the only way brenham doesn't score every drive is if they turn it over by fumbling or something... the game is over at the half

You got that right. If Duncanville was in the other bracket, they would have had an extra month to be practicing basketball. This game will be a stinker. I agree - over at the half. And if they mercy rule were by quarter, it would be over after the 1st.

Hey Balbuff, Lgateplaya42 and seguinlifegate

Duncanville Christway 56
Brenham Christian 52

How do you like them apples?

I really did not believe this would happen, but shame on me for doubting the Christway spirit. Watched it on TappsTV. David beats Goliath.

Gig 'em Chaps!!

Wow!!

Duncanville led the game 22-0 early in the second quarter, and 42-20 after three quarters. Brenham outscored the Chaps 32-14 in the fourth, but Duncanville answered the bell on key situations late to hold on for the win. Exciting game to watch, even if I couldn't feel my hands to clap or face to talk.

Wow.

All I can say is that it may be the biggest win since David got the bead on Goliath ...

Again proof of why we play the game anyway. And Nebraska nearly did it vs UT

I guess that Duncanville was not a one man team and they can play with BCA and they will not get 45'd at the half and the game was longer than people thought and I guess they could have played on the other side of the bracket and I guess the Championship was not played last week in Seguin and that little Chaparral was a little faster than the Eagle and I guess that Duncanville needs to buy a new Trophy case. I know that most of this board is in fun so I thought I would jab back a little.

Congradulations to the 2009 State Champion Christway Chaparrals!!!!!!!

All these boys did was pick themselves up off of the turf after last years defeat and having everyone bash them and work hard and come back to the state game and win it.

congrats-Christway, their players, coaches and fans. This is the very reason the game is played on the field and not on the internet. Great job Jerry!
