thats true i bet maybe 2 out of 100 players coming out of a small private school even make the squad at the local community college

Well then I guess I've been truly blessed, my older son signed to a D-2 school in Missouri to play football - Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.

He's a junior now and he quit football at the end of last season - I asked him if he was going to be okay about it when the season started this year - wasn't he really going to miss it - he said
"Mom, I do miss football - 6 man football - I'd give anything if I could play 6 man again".

So there you have it - course we can never go back - can we? These kids better enjoy all those sports while they can.

I didn't say that you won't play college ball, but my bet is that your older son sought out schools and coaches weren't camped out on your doorstep.

I just see some kids and (usually) their parents thinking that the kid is God's gift to the sport because they can dominate what is often a very shallow end of the pool. There are a lot of talented athletes at the D-2 and D-3 levels as well and they had to fight for those opportunities too.

At first it was him seeking them - then he attended the Jay Novachek football camp - they do this "top 30" competition - he made the top 30 - then the camp sends all your info to 2500 coaches across the country (NAIA, D2 and D3) - the day that thing was released we got calls from all over the country - even Maine!! It was much easier to find a spot after that - he visited 8 colleges before he decided (in Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Virginia). One note - I don't know why (see the world??) but he did not want to go to school in Texas - so that's one reason he ended up in Missouri and it was very important to him to attend a Christian college. It might of helped him that he was also getting an academic scholarship - so any kids reading this - CLASSWORK is important too! If you do get to play NCAA ball they have mandatory study halls for the athletes - the colleges are "graded" if you will, by how many athletes graduate and how well they do in class.

You are right about a lot of parents - until you have been through this process you have no idea how many thousands of athletes that are just as good as you think your child is - you go from a big fish in a little pond to a little fish in a big pond - whole new world. And so many kids that get the opportunity - just absolutely blow it - they have been coddled and pampered by their parents and others and they just absolutely go wild in college - even the Christian colleges - my son was absolutely shocked at things he saw going on.

Sorry - I am going on and on - it's a mom thing.

Back to the subject of this thread:

My prediction - BCA 88 Duncanville 12 over at the half.

The Duncanville players should just try not to get hurt because they aren't in the same class as the Eagles. Isn't Duncanville's mascot a road runner? They should run away now.

If yall want a real state championship i know a Lifegate football team that would love to take Duncanville's place.... lol honestly the score doesn't reflect how close that game was... Duncanville will not stop brenham... the only way brenham doesn't score every drive is if they turn it over by fumbling or something... the game is over at the half

You got that right. If Duncanville was in the other bracket, they would have had an extra month to be practicing basketball. This game will be a stinker. I agree - over at the half. And if they mercy rule were by quarter, it would be over after the 1st.

You know you are making it hard for our young new coach to keep our players heads straight for this game - if those boys get on here and read all this they are going to be way overconfident - course we momma's know how to cure that.

Momma, your boys could win this game sleepwalking. All they have to do is stop #3 - one man team.

Clear out a spot in the awards case for your state championship trophy. BCA should have it in their hands before 8PM Saturday.

We don't have an awards case - YET

It's the stopping #3 that we have been thinking about - what do you think about the superglue idea?? Superglue his shoes in place on the field, superglue his rear to the bench, superglue one of our (big) guys to him to slow him down??

While I don't think Duncanville is as one-dimensional as last year, I believe they will get 45'd. I think they will score at least once this year. Not only does Brenham need to stop #3, there is also #18 Chris Polk, (and is #5 still there?). They are fast, true, but as they found out last year, offense doesn't win Championships. Seems those North teams need to focus on their defense in the off-season, and playing a challenging schedule. Like Freddy last year, Brenham has played a decent schedule against some top competition. This is big factor come playoff time. One thing Duncanville has going for them is having played in the State game last year. They know how the trip feels, they know the lockerooms, they know the field, the wind!!! Duncanville faces a huge, up-hill battle. I hope they can make a game of it and go all 40 minutes.

Give some respect to Christway! I would be shocked if they get 45'd. I actually think they will win, that is a determined bunch of kids and coaches! Good luck to Brenhma as well, should be a great game!

Coach Peters

I know those boys a little, and I know Coach Hargraves will have them prepared. Brenham might win, Christway might win! game is played on the field not on sixmanfootball.com. Much respect to both teams for making it this far!

I'm not jumping on the Brenham bandwagon, they were my pick from the start of the season. But this game seems a lot like last year. Freddy came in ranked #1, just like Brenham. Lot's of people thought Duncanville would run all over (or past) Freddy, and look what happened. I see too many similarities to the '08 game. Brenham will play smash-mouth offense and pressure defense. They are multi-dimensional, now even more so with their new spread game. I think they are just too powerful for Duncanville. I do hope that Duncanville can make a game of it. It would be nice to see a close, hard-fought game. Maybe like the Freddy-Glenview game a couple of years ago. Or like the UT-ATM game or last night's Oregon-Oregon State game.
