Old Photographs

Back in the day of the leather helmet some pretty rough stuff happened to your face in the bottom of the [pile, especially eyes and noses, so I've been told.

I remember perusing this book at Hastings shortly after it came out. Had a picture of Jonathon Parsons of Strawn (03 State Defense MVP) scoring a TD in his Soph or Jr year. It cost too much/I didn't have the $ for a coffee table/picture book (40+ of em).
Bought it today used through Amazon, "Good Condition", 97% positive dealer rating of 400,000 ratings. We will see.
$2.89 + 3.99 shipping.

51eleven, sounds like a good way to go. I will have to look into it.

I really was hoping to see a picture of Norton. Wanted to see Ed Peahls (sp) in high school. Also wanted to see if the picture was taken fairly soon after their Regional game, to see if Cotton Dinsmore's arm was still in a cast.

Sidney. Have heard some of the guys who played in the Norton-Sidney regional game talk about that game. New Ed when he was coaching at Blackwell and Robert Lee. Part of the story of that game was: Cotton Dinsmore was the spreadback for Norton... broke his arm in the first half of the game...went to the Balinger hospital and got his arm set in a cast...came back to the game toward the end of the fourth quarter...was a part of scoring the winning TD late in the game. We may have better athletes playing today, but I don't think todays kids are as tough!

Ya Cotton broke his arm in the game and got it bandaged up and played the 2nd half as a spread back!...I know because I have the game film! Yap...in color too! It even has some shots of Norton's cheerleaders at half time with ankle length dresses!

It came in in great shape. Some good pictures. Intro by Aikman is interesting as well as the wa Wilson tells her story. Funny story about the Kostia brothers of Gordon listening to a playoff game from Wisconsin over a phone held up to a radio. Couple of pages by Coach Underwood at the end are great.

I just found a reference to a school in Illinois that played 6Man in the '30's and 40's, Sherrard High School (Sherrard, IL). Anybody have any info on that? OBK?

The school still exists in Sherrard.

They play 11 man now after the state forced a consolidation with Matherville.
