Let’s brainstorm some kick off rules.
I watched 3 games today. 11 am-3 pm and 7 pm and saw the offenses start with the ball at the 40 nearly every possession.
Currently the only advantage of kicking the ball into the endzone for a touch back is the offense starting at 20. If you attempt an onside they start at 30 with an opportunity to get ball back.
What are some options to reward a team for kicking off a touchback and actually make the offensive team have to put a drive together,
Vs just onside it and take the 10 yard differential.
Random thoughts.
Kickoff goes for touch back. Receiving Team starts on 15. Kickoff attempt goes out of bounds past the 20 the ball starts on the 20.
How do you reward a good kicking game and putting effort into it, to warrant impacting the game. Extra points are vital and coaches spend time addressing it. But the ease of just conceding to the let’s just onside it cause it only makes a 10 yard impact.
Im Just curious what folks see as other options or if it’s the beauty of the game.
