My Own Top 25
Some of the school on this list I don't even know what part of Texas they're in.
Maybe I can help- Two of your top 10 teams in D1 are from the East, the other 8 are from the West.
Jus Sayin'.... LOL!!!!! (I couldn't resist) :-)

All in all Coach your doing a heck of a job, it's very difficult and I praise anyone who gives it a try. Your rankings are as close as anyone elses given the info thus far in the season. Keep up the good work!

Have you seen Balmorhea or Jayton? They would be my next two to jump inside the top 10, but have never seen them or Groom. Motley is probably a little high, as I may have been caught up in their name. Let me know if you have seen anyone who should bump Groom.

I have seen Balmorhea they play Grandfalls tonight. The have good depth and very well coached. The bracket should have them going deep in the playoffs. Tonight we will see if speed indeed does kill.

I pray speed kills. That's all we have. Largest kid is one of our running backs at 5"10, 200 lbs. Everyone else is 185 and under.

Well im curious, do you think buckholts is one of the the top 20 teams in state?

I think Buckholts is the best 5-3 team in the state. I won't put my own team in the rankings, regardless of how good we're playing.

I'm hoping this isn't one of my players, being this message was sent during 7th period and we have a no cell phone policy!

32 additional 40's = fatigue.
Plymetrics = more fatigue.
15 additional slants = even more fatigue.
15 additional jets = the most fatigue.
Finish practice with six TD drives with no mistakes = Borderline Death.
Learning your coach values education = PRICELESS!!

Values physical education is obvious with all that work.
How does the coach show he values the edumacation part of the equation?

I'm a science teacher (physics through 8th grade science) who doesn't allow any player to play with less than a 75 average and no starter is allowed to have less than an 80 average. My players are held to higher standards and I believe it will pay off in the long run. They attend daily, mandatory tutorials, after school; and the first six weeks we had a team gpa of 2.95. I received a phenomenal education and experienced every level of athletics, as a player and coach. When my youth ended, I fell back on my education, which is something I'm trying to pass on. Trust me, my players learned today they will abide by the rules, whether they agree with them or not.

A perfect example of how discipline has caught on. This Friday night, our team was involved in a scuffle on the field on the last play of the game. When all was said and done, I started getting on to my kids about discipline and respect and each player, all 22, dropped and started doing push ups. None of them were asked to do so. They apologized to me for their actions. The captain went and apologized to the opposing coach. The captains went in on Monday and apoligized to our superintendent. Again, none was asked of them by the coaching staff. Yes, I will take a kid learning character, any day over winning a football game. If that's wrong, then I will live the rest of my life being wrong

Great going coach...I'm all in favor of balancing a players education with the extra time for the basics of Math, English and Science and character development. Getting volunteers to help with these mentoring activities should be a part of a really good booster club.
