Just to let everyone know - Lazbuddie ISD took a step forward in reestablishing their football program today. Named as their new Head Coach - Ken Hoskins formally of Whitharral and Garden City.

This will be a boost for the Longhorn program for sure.

Good luck to the Horns and Coach Hoskins.

For once something we can agree on Just Observing. The Longhorns are in for a real treat with Ken. They could not have found a finer person to teach their young men the game of football. A few of us really miss having him around the Garden.
My kids never had him as a coach but they loved him as principal.

He has his work cut out, not many players, and has been a wreck for sometime. Muleshoe gets the better ones in JR High. They have been able to turn around their girls basketball. "Super Coach" The boys in football or basketball win like one game a year sometimes. I taught there and really liked it. There are quite a few kids that wont play and others that have gone to other schools. Laz best player who will be a Sr left two years ago and sat out a year to get away from conflicts with coaches. If the new coach comes in and the kids can tell he cares about what is best for them he can start to rebuild the program as he gets the kids to buy in. If he comes in like a Rambo trying to bully the kids, things won't change. He will need to work hard to stop the leakage of talent.
It will take time to fix things, but Lazbuddie seems to be fixing some of the problems of the last couple of years. The new coach will find some really good kids, many excellent teachers and a supportive community. I wish the New Coach, the school and the community well in their efforts.

Apparently you don't know of Coach Hoskins, his history or methods. Lazbuddie has done themselves a huge favor .... They can look forward to good things .... If the kids are willing to work, listen and learn they can look forward to success.
