Stats are meaningless. We've got a coach who will only play his starters for a quarter (if that) and will put backups in when it's 32-0. We had a game this year where our starters played 3 possessions. He didn't want to be perceived as running up the score, so he played the JV kids (who had played 4 quarters the night before) the rest of the way. We still won 68-7, so I don't know what was gained by depriving your starters of reps. At some point, you have to be thinking about what gets you prepared for the playoffs instead of the opponent's feelings. (That's a discussion for a different thread.) The main point is that you're trying to compare scoring averages among teams and coaches who approach the game differently and have completely different situations.
