Coaches from eight of the top-ranked Six-Man independent football teams have agreed to meet in Gholson on Saturday, November 11, to play a series of four games.
Independent teams come from Independent School Districts, faith-based schools, charter schools and homeschool associations. Teams from the all parts of the state have committed to participate.
Without any playoff opportunities available to them, coaches from several schools decided it was time to create something. Led by CH Harvey of Fayette County Sports Associatio, it was decided they meet in Gholson, just 15 miles northwest of Waco.
The four match-ups will be based according to the sixmanfootball.com rankings (after week 10).
If the season ended today, those matchups would be:
#1 Morton vs. #2 Tyler HEAT
#3 Lewisville Founders Classical vs. #4 Campbell
#5 Dallas UME Prep vs. #7 Fayette County Sports Association
#9 Lubbock Kingdom Prep vs. #11 Temple Centex Homeschool
This Independent Bowl Series will be a first of its kind in Texas and should be an exciting day of football.
