Texas Independent Six Man Bowl Series

The idea of a series of post season Bowl Games for Independent teams
is advancing for play this season. There are many different reasons some
teams cannot participate in an extended playoff season. Not the least of which is
time and money. So, in order to provide the players an opportunity to end
their High School career on a memorable note, this idea of a Bowl Series has
been explored. The idea is to match teams by their final sixman.com rankings to
provide competitive match ups. Number 1 would play number 2, 3 would play 4 etc.
While it's still early, we have 2 teams confirmed to play and several others discussing
their participation with the "powers that be".
We also have a sponsor willing to offset certain costs associated with the games.
It will not lead to follow up games, it will simply be a one and done opportunity, benefiting
the kids, but especially the Seniors.
If you are an Independent and are interested in this concept and I or someone else hasn't contacted you,
Please call me at 979-203-6765 or email me at [email protected].

What is the date and location being considered for this? Are all the bowl games going to be played at the same location on the same day?

For now, the games will be scheduled for week 11. Depending on which teams are matched, a single venue may not be possible. For example Fayette County, currently number 3 and Fort Hancock, Currently number 4 are 614 miles, 8 1/2 hour apart. If that is the matchup, then a neutral site will need to be selected and agreed upon. Each Bowl Game will be given separate names, for example, The Sam Houston Bowl, and each player will receive a medallion and the each team will receive a trophy reflecting the Bowl name and year played.

An Idea becomes a Reality.
This Saturday, November 11, 2017, Veterans Day,
8 Independent Six Man Football teams from around
the State will be in Gholson, Texas to play in a series
of Bowl Games beginning at 10:00 am. Pairings will be
based on sixman.com’s rankings that will be released
later today. Teams from Morton ISD, Lubbock Kingdom Prep,
Tyler, Campbell ISD, Dallas, Lewisville, Fayette County and Temple
will be paired up according to their rankings, 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc.
Stay tuned for updates.
