You got VA Hornkeeper? You do realize that there's a difference between that and VD? Right?

Seriously, I didn't know you were a vet. Thank you for your service.
DIsabled vet from the Serbian conflict, 8 years service, medically retired with honors. But, we wouldn't want to get into that, it may give the impression that my character is anything other than what was implied earlier in this thread.

I would just like to clarify that my disability is not a mental one!!!! And that I work, full time, without leeching off of the government. Even though I could draw a healthy check for nothing, I choose not to because im not libtarded. Just sayin! Ah, crap, tarnishing my bad character reputation again. I'll stahp now. :-)

I didnt know we had troops in the Serbian Conflict. I find nothing in the VA about that, I do take offense in the words leeching off the goverment, i draw VA benefits for service connected injuries, I have lived with these wounds and PTSD for over 40 years. The check I draw is repay me for the out of pocket money i used for over 40 years, I paid out of pocket for health ins. for many years, what I get now is NOT for NOTHING. If i am wrong I am sorry Hornkeeper.
PS I damn sure aint no libertard

Flats, we got drawn into the disintegration of the old Yugoslavia because our old NATO 'allies' wanted us to hold their hands. This is the conflict where we bombed the Chinese embassy in Belgrade by mistake and where Klintoon and Gen. Wesley Clark pissed off the Russians so much it allowed Vladmir Putin to get a foot in the door where he later took over the nation. I think we had about 10000 ground troops there keeping the Serbs and Bosnians apart.

I was not implying that one who draws a check from benefits for service connected injuries is leeching off of the government. I was obviously too short in my description because I was on my phone. I too draw a check for my service connected injuries. However, I AM able to work, so I do, if I were NOT able to work, I would gladly accept my compensation that I know I had earned. I was referring to those able bodied civilians who would rather draw a check because its available to them than to work. That is who I was calling leeches, not our great veterans who have actually earned the grossly small compensation that is recieved for the service, sacrifice, and the nightmares that go along with said service and sacrifice. Your service is greatly appreciated by me and I was not intending to disrespect you in any way.

OBK, you are exactly correct, it was a NATO operation. I believe the campaign was officially called the NATO Yugoslavia Liberation campaign. I was Navy, we were tasked with policing traffic that was coming in and out by sea. We would stop other sea vessels and board them, searching for contraband, mainly weapons.

An excerpt taken from the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships.

The cruiser (USS Bainbridge, CGN-25) participated in COMPTUEX 2-94 off Puerto Rico (19 January–17 February 1994). She deployed to reinforce NATO Standing Naval Forces, Atlantic (StaNavForLant) on 1 April. Bainbridge relieved guided missile cruiser Dale (CG-19) as StaNavForLant flagship at Palma de Mallorca. Bainbridge sailed from Spanish waters on 16 April, and steamed to the Adriatic Sea for Operation Sharp Guard—to enforce UN sanctions against the warring factions in the former Republic of Yugoslavia. For the next five months, Bainbridge conducted patrols and served as the antiair warfare coordinator in the Adriatic Sea. The warship also visited Corfu, Greece; Naples and Livorno, Italy; and Soudha Bay, Crete. She turned over her duties as StaNavForLant flagship at Toulon, France (14–17 September), and returned to NS Norfolk on 30 September.

Yep. Another one of those conflicts where we had absolutely no vital national interest and the libtards enthustiacally supported going in there. No oil, no vital minerals, just a bunch of slavic idiots who can't get over grudges about crap that happened 1000 years ago. Add Islam into the mix and it was a nasty situation. I was all for letting the Europeans handle that, but no, Klintoon had to send in our troops too.
