Hows everyone looking? Any disappointments? Any surprises? Any shock transfers to schools that are going to make them great?
Kingwood Covenant is a 1st year program. 12 total players with 2 that have played tackle football prior to this year. That being said, I'm really pleased with how far they've come in 3 weeks. Looking forward to the season.Hows everyone looking? Any disappointments? Any surprises? Any shock transfers to schools that are going to make them great?
Have y’all scrimmaged anyone?Kingwood Covenant is a 1st year program. 12 total players with 2 that have played tackle football prior to this year. That being said, I'm really pleased with how far they've come in 3 weeks. Looking forward to the season.
Best of luck too yall!We did a 5-way scrimmage on the first scrimmage date and scrimmaged Baytown last week. The first one was at Allen Academy and we scrimmaged Austin Veritas, Round Rock Christian Academy, San Marcos Academy, and Allen Academy. It was good experience for us. I think we held our own and was pleased with where we were considering how early it is in the season. Everybody looked a little sloppy, which I assume is expected with only 2 weeks of practice. Baytown was physical. They pursued and tackled well. They were big too. It should be a fun season. My boys are excited.
San Marcos Rams win 74 to 42I know San Marcos Hill Country scored an absurd amount of points, but after watching film on it, they can’t tackle and were lucky they played an even less physical team. Austin Veritas Defenders will go home at halftime this week with a win. I know it’s early but they looked confused and soft in my opinion
An old, wise coach told me that the best defense is one that allows the opponent to score one less point that your offense can score.I know San Marcos Hill Country scored an absurd amount of points, but after watching film on it, they can’t tackle and were lucky they played an even less physical team. Seems like them and Freddy at the top in the south. Curious if they can play with Freddy or not…Despite tough losses this season, Divine Savior Academy has looked good the last two outings. They finally put together their best game against Baytown last night.
Freddy knocked them out in the first round last year. I hope we get the chance to see this year. The DSA game against Brazosport in two weeks will be telling.Seems like them and Freddy at the top in the south. Curious if they can play with Freddy or not…
I think they’ll be in the state championship game. The north seems to be much stronger than the south. I don’t know that they’ll face much adversity until they get to Waco.Saw Freddy last night dominate a hurt San Marcos Hill Country team. A very strong team and they are young. Watch them for this year and the next couple. Shipman doesn't rebuild, he reloads. And I got my annual visit with the lovely and always charming Mrs. Shipman.
Wichita Christian vs Waco Valor is for a district title. Are there any games to keep an eye on this weekend with playoff implications? I know Divine Savior and Brazosport face off for district title. Is everyone else pretty locked in at this point?
