Gordon vs Thorndale

Look Homelander, a coach doesn’t just say, “Hey, I think I will play Thorndale in week four!” “Or Mason, or Llano.” Both teams have to need a game, and both have to agree. And when a team is successful and strong, teams drop you like a hot potato. Everyone is looking for a possible W. You will fill your schedule with just about anyone who will agree to play.
Thank you for clarifying what I already knew. I would just like to see them compete against the best cause I believe they would do well

Gordon is a solid team but it’s just stupid for an 11 man team to play them.
You lose and your team sufffers a demoralizing defeat. Win, and who cares…you beat a six man school (even if they play an 11 man game)
If any of the boys at Gordon plan on playing at the next level they’d be better off to transfer to a 11 man school (easy to do under the UIL rules) like Ridgon did and play there instead of trying to build or pad their experience in a gimmick game.

If they transfer to 11man just make sure it’s the number 1 or 2 team in the state

A lot of times in life people are asked to step out of their comfort zone.
That is what was asked of the Gordon Longhorn Team.
Those young men accepted the challenge of stepping out of their comfort zone and excelled.

I just hope there aren’t any people on here looking at this game and actually trying to compare their team to Gordon lol. Fact is nobody else played Thorndale and even if they did and beat them that does not change the fact that Gordon is 45 points better than anyone in sixman football and that’s just because of the mercy rule lol. Who cares who they have played or who they are going to play….. doesn’t change Anything. We just need to sit back and admire what we are witnessing. Don’t matter who they play they easily have the best three athletes on the field. If not more.

I heard from a friend that some of the 11-man schools close to Gordon said no way!!!
I can see where some 11-man schools see playing Gordon is just a trap game for them. They have nothing to gain in winning while Gordon looks like a world beater if Gordon wins. It's similar to UT playing UTEP or Sam Houston, losing can be catastrophic. Michigan or Texas A & M playing and losing to Appalachian State is a good example. Underdogs can bite.

It could appear lose lose on the surface but Gordon has athletes a team like Thorndale probably won't see until the playoffs. Thorndale gained more than you might think. The score gets you pride points but the adversity both teams faced can make them both stronger. I would argue it is NOTHING like UT playing a junior high team, I mean Sam Houston. UT has a top talent level and should beat everyone by 55. Looking at talent and success alone, no one in their right mind would have had Gordon as a dog to Thorndale. Enrollment levels don't win games, talent does.

Thorndale gained nothing playing Gordon other than doing them a favor to schedule them. Maybe Thorndale will play with a little more intensity down the stretch, Gordon definitely wanted it more.

Kudos to Thorndale for scheduling Gordon.

Incredible work by Mike Reed and the Gordon staff getting them ready to play 11 man.

I agree that its a no win situation for Thorndale or any other 2A or larger school agreeing to play a 6man team. You win and its "so what you beat a team that doesn't even play 11 man football" or you lose and its "you lost to a 6 man team"

But hey playing a game is better than having another bye week on the schedule.

Thanks to Gordon and Thorndale for giving all of TXHSFB a unique and exciting experience this year.

Ry Reed getting there as a freshman would probably be viewed as recruiting
By who? The dad was hired to coach basketball and he is a top basketball coach right? Quit grasping at straws. Coaches come and go and coaches usually have coached up good kids. Wesp is a vehicle to drum up clicks on this site. Nothing more, nothing less and will post anything under the sun that will get people wound up. I enjoy it for what it is, satire!
