Instructions
1. Graduate from an accredited four-year college or university. All Public School coaching jobs in Texas, whether available at the junior high, high school, college or professional level, require a college degree.

2. Complete a teacher certification program as part of your undergraduate degree or take one of the Texas Education Agency approved programs if you already have a four-year degree. All junior high school and high school coaches in Texas are required to be certified teachers.

I have always heard about being a full time employee of the school district. But there are several in the state (past and present)who are retired and are working part time for the school district. They are also the Head football coach. How does that work?

Back in the day, De Leon had an x-student hired as a janitor/assistant coach/bus driver.
 
Oh, and seriously ... any private school that is worth working or serving as a volunteer coach for (and all public schools) will undertake a criminal background check on you. Any legal skeletons in your closet will probably not be helpful.
