Bowl Season

Well they are out the Bowls have selected their teams what do you think? The computers kept Texas out of the Big 12 Championship and then the humans jump Florida over Texas. Oh well Texas/Ohio State is intriguing and if UT wins I think they go #1 next year. Of course we know that it's not how you start it's how you run the score up at the end that counts. Tech/Ole Miss could be a great one also and Tech has a legitimate gripe about being left out of the BCS (That's right I did really say that). Check out al the bowls at this link: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls08/c ... id=3753396

Something is really wrong when Cinncinati gets a BCS bowl.

I think Tech got screwed, but that's what happens when you get shellacked on National TV. I don't see the Cotton Bowl being much of a challenge for Tech, but then again it is a bowl game and the RR's are probably feeling snubbed. I hope they don't do what Cal did a few years ago.

If Tebow comes back for his senior year, the Gators will be the odds-on favorite for 2009.

Don't overlook Ole Miss techsters. They like Texas are the only ones to have beaten a team in the Championship game.

Both Tech and Ole Miss have defeated #1 teams.

This won't be a case of Tech overlooking so much as it will be Tech being disappointed, and playing flat.

Go Buckeyes!

I will of course root for all of the Texas teams unlike some. Actually though I'm excited about the MEINEKE CAR CARE BOWL. UNC and WV wow what a matchup.

I too root for all Texas teams in the bowl games..... Even though the techsters can be pretty obnoxious, I hope they can beat the hell out of Ole Miss. Should be a great game. Like I said in another post concerned with rooting for Texas teams against Oklahoma teams; To me, Texas teams should be kind of like a brotherhood.... brothers can pick on each other, but no one outside of the family can pick on em.

Now the real difficult part is rooting for OU against Florida.
#1 They are a big 12 school. Being that the team I root for is in the big 12, I would want that school to do well. It makes the conference look stronger.
#2 it makes the Texas win look all the more better.

The difficult part is that if Big Game Bob tanks this one, and gets blown away in a bcs game (again) you can always use that to get under the skin of the boomers for another year. (Assuming Texas wins the Fiesta Bowl, if not, then it may be considered in bad taste lol.)

Tech has a lot to prove in their bowl game vs. Ole Miss. I know they are probably not where they thought they would be at this point in the season, but I fully expect them to come out flyin around and offensively, on FIRE!
Wreck 'em Tech. Make the Big XII proud

Tech isn't part of "the brotherhood". Mustang himself said that Tech should be sent to New Mexico. We are the step-kids. The ones that keep getting socks for Christmas.

Now he wants to pretend he is on some sort of moral gridiron high road by pointing a self-righteous finger at my honesty.

The last time I wanted a tee-sipper team to win was when they played USC for the National Championship. I got over that pretty quick.

About the only logical reason there is for me rooting for anything in burnt-orange is that I detest the Big-10 almost as I detest the Pac-10 (with the exception of the AZ teams).

It would be nice to see a Big-12 sweep in the bowl games this year. But I will not shed a tear if tu gets beat.

two words: GO GATORS!

there I said it.

If you ain't a Gator, you're Gatorbait

Now, now - jealousy doesn't fit you well, Granger.

Would you still be hollering "Go Gators" if Texas was in the big game against 'Bama, and Norman was playing Florida in another bowl?

Tee-sippers. You can't live with them, and you can't shoot them.

Why do I have to root for my rival? I believe DevilDDS says I cannot anyway. OU winning is not good for business down here, and I do mean in my personal household also.

Truthfully, I am a big Tebow fan. I love the way they play. After Texas (for obvious reasons) I have rooted for them to win championships recently. As a Texas fan, it would've scared me to play them, but I would've loved the opportunity.

Other games I wouldn't have minded in the BCS
Florida vs. Utah (Florida lite)
Texas vs. Alabama (classic)
OU vs. USC (that offense vs. that great D)
Penn St vs. any of the above (and I think PSU would lose... just another classic matchup)

I would also like to see OU get another shot at USC. I'm sure they would too. Especially after that embarrassing loss a couple of years ago in the Title game

Also, Florida and Texas would have been another good one. Two very good spread offenses battling it out along with the two great dual-threat quarterbacks. It would come down to DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE. And I believe Texas would come out the victor

My bad. It was MattC who wanted to get rid of Texas Tech.

Sorry about that.

As hard as it is to root for OU, I think I will for only the second time in the national championship. In 2000 I wanted FSU to blow the Sooners out but of course OU won in a defensive slugfest 13-2. In 2004 I wanted the Sooners to beat USC but of course USC blew them out 55-19. If Texas can convincingly win over Ohio State and OU squeeze by Florida, there would be a chance that Texas would move up to #1 in the AP and split the title with OU. That would funny after all the crap the Sooners fans were talking about Texas, with their signs at the Big 12 Title game. I doubt this scenario plays out but it could happen. It is funny to me, to see Bob Stoops talking so good about the system now that his team is in the title game, wonder what he be saying if they were left out. A big problem is the fact that "big game bob" has had a pretty bad showing in the BCS the last four years or so. I wonder who will win the heisman? To me it is between two guys Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. I don't wanna take anything away from Sam Bradford because he throws the ball as good as anyone in football, but when you have five seconds to throw it is so much easier. Look at Tom Brady in the regular season last year and in the Super Bowl. The one thing that makes a great QB average is pressure. I like Tebow and McCoy because they are great leaders and can make plays with their feet, something Bradford can't do. I don't talk about Harrell because you know as well as I that you can't lose by 44 points on a national stage and win the Heisman. I don't think it goes to the best player but the most publicized player on the one of the best teams. The two games I look forward to the most besides the Title Game and Texas-OSU are Oregon-Oklahoma State and TCU-Boise State.
