Balmorhea v Strawn

Most ursinologists will tell ya, it is the wrong time of the year to mess with a bear.
Actually
Hibernation is the easiest time to kill them.

I would really like for it to be within 1 td.
Maybe extra points decide it?

Dang ! Bears going to a urologist before going into hibernation! No wonder they don’t have to wake up and
Pee ! I sure learn lots of interesting stuff on this site !

There is no such word as ursinologist. Don't go to,

I beg to differ.......... it actually is a legitimate word.....

As spelled, in what county? Can you define it, friend?[/quote

I stand corrected, again.

Although I'm not sure the study of magical bears is really a legitimate thing itself.

Having seen many of the Bears' games last year and knowing they were quite a young and becoming team, I'm going to have to say this years team is going back to Jerryworld with only one goal: To Win.

I will go on to say that these Bears have a very potent arsenal of offensive players who are just as dangerous on the defensive side of the game. When I saw Milford play Iredell in McGregor, I can attest that I was not at all impressed like I was with the Bears of last year. That said, I'm confident that these boys are going to give Strawn a taste of that Far West Texas grit that made teams like Marathon, Fort Hancock, and Garden City, all of which R. Vance Jones has some association with one way or another.

In short, these Balmorhea Bears are hungry and they're not to be underestimated.
Whooooo-ey!

I don't think either coach will underestimate the other, nor will they allow their teams to.
I think this may be the 20th anniversary of their first meeting when coach Jones was at Sanderson.

Note, GF lost to BC by 4 in 97 in the regional round going 11-1. BC won state 15-0 going on to beat Silverton by 15, 46 ing Lazbuddie, and Panther Creek 32 at Abilene Wylie's stadium. Not Shotwell?

GF 46'd Sanderson that year but only beat Balmorhea by 2.

Only 1 division and playoff team per district then. West Texas was dominant that year.

That was a tough year for the bears. There was a three way tie for district runner up; Sanderson, Sierra Blanca and Balmorhea. Balmohea and SB Missing the playoffs after a coin toss. That district was definitely one of the toughest in the state that year.

probably 1996 was their first meeting, not '97.

I met Coach Jones that summer at coaching school and he wanted to take me to dinner. He also invited a young coach from his district... yup, Dewaine Lee.

I believe that winning is probably every team’s primary goal ..............

I have seen Strawn play, many times for years. I have not seen Balmorhea this year. Vance Jones is outstanding and an old friend of mine, but so is Dewaine. Strawn is very quick and can score in a heartbeat. As always, they will block the fool out of you. I think, just to be different, I will pick Strawn by 6.

I can't remember a time when I have ever rooted for a team from the East Bracket. Doing something like that is like selling out your own mother. It is borderline unforgivable. But here I am hoping Coach Lee gets his third ring. Go Strawn. Beat the Bears!

Well RJ we must concede he did come to Strawn from Silverton, thanks in part to Coach Crabb.
Clifton filled the gas tank with diesel on the move down. So the Coach said.

You could tell Strawn was in total control of this game after the second quarter. And then Strawn did what they did all year wore out there opponent.

Once Strawn capitalized on the turn over on downs from Balmorhea and got that 16 point lead. They pretty much had it won from there. Balmorhea never gave up but at the same time. You could tell their attitude had changed. But that can happen to anyone when you get them frustrated from not being able to move the ball like they were used too.

But hats off to Balmorhea. They did everything they needed to get back there for a 2nd straight year. Something that isn't easy and most teams would dream of being able to do. Like Coach Jones told them kids after the game. We're a good team, they were just better than us today. Bears should hold their heads high.
