Topher , marijuana or maybe even LSD is legal in Canada, right?
That would explain quite a bit............. Topher is starting to make Cowboy appear almost normal............
I am normal!

Please define normal. I sometimes feel just a little bit abnormal myself. Some people think I'm crazy when I mention Six Man Football. They look at me like I"m
a nutt and say six man what?

I actually love it when they do that . I smile and respond, Baketball in pads with hitting and running the ball and tackling encouraged on defense. They seem more confused. I smile again. Maybe I'm a bit abnormal.

Why couldn't they go really retro with the State Games. Find a nice flat pasture in a bit of a bowl near the geographic center of the state. Mow it, mark it, portable goal posts, portable bleachers between the 10 yard lines. Back in parking around the end zones $50, 1st come 1st served. People could bring deer stands for elevated "suites".

That's exactly why I was promoting the Hornet Dome........

So, to revisit the actual topic of this thread: The UIL website seems to indicate the championship games will be in Houston with all of the other classifications: https://www.uiltexas.org/football/state

Does anybody here know any differently?

They might as well have it in Nebraska. You will not see the casual or moderate six-man fan making that trek. However, folks from High Island wont have far to go!

So.. if it were Guthrie vs Groom for the DII Title....
Groom is 8 1/2 hours away and Guthrie is about 7, but they are only 2 hours away from each other.

I am sure there are even more extreme combos but the facts are that the majority of teams playing six-man are in the Northwest portion of the state.

SixFan, I believe if you will look closely at your map, the majority of teams playing six-man are more in the central part of the Great State of Texas.

And, even though I like Shotwell, the Houston trip will be great for the kids.

The Waldorf called me this morning, they had a cancellation and I had asked them to remember me if one came in... so I will be staying in Darrouzett come December.

If there's a Four Seasons up there, count me in. (Not one of those schlocky "Four Points by Sheraton" joints.)

I'll make it if it ends up being Houston. As much as I hate going to Houston.

Why can't the teams that are involved choose the sight like we used to years ago before the UIL began to dictate what they wanted. They still get their cut of the gate. Just a thought.

I thought the games were being held at the Hornet Dome in Rochelle, AKA center of Texas if not the known universe.

I know this is over a month late, but I threw up in my mouth a little bit after reading this sentence.

Most of the schools playing championship-quality football are west and north of Abilene.

In Division I maybe, but Division II will come from east and south of there.
