"Message board" renamed to "Forums"

For those who haven't already found it, the "Message boards" have now been renamed to "Forums". The reason for this is because the it's the software default for the software we're now using. In order for it to stay as "Message board", I'd have to manually go in and change it every time I update the site to the latest version of our software. Rather than doing that, I figured it was best (definitely easier) to just let the default language prevail.

So, you will now find what used to be the message board in the "Forums" tab in the navigation. Nothing else has changed.

Sorry I didn't put this announcement up yesterday, following the update where I decided to let it go, and I'm certainly sorry if this caused any inconveniences for any of you. I thought the two phrases were pretty much universally interchangeable so didn't even consider it would be necessary to post a notice about it.

Coaches: Open/filled prefixes added

Today I added a few prefixes that can be used in both the Games Needed / Open Dates and Coaching Vacancies forums. This will, hopefully, make it easier to distinguish between dates/jobs that are open and ones that are already filled.

Adding games to your schedule

There have been a few folks who have been confused as to how to add games to their team's schedule so I've put together a brief step-by-step tutorial on the process here: https://sixmanfootball.com/threads/adding-games-to-your-schedule.34863/

Please let me know if any of you have any questions. I'm also happy to add the schedule myself if you want to email, text, or private message me a copy.

Division Organization

I've been working the last week, or so, on trying to get the teams into the correct divisions for the upcoming season. I believe most teams are accurate to this point, but if your team is still wrong, please contact me and let me know so I can get it updated.

You can see a list of the divisions, and the teams in those divisions, as I have them, at this page: SixMan Football Divisions

Thank you to everyone who has helped out getting all the data up to date to this point. It's very much appreciated!

Changes Incoming!

I'm sure some of you have likely noticed a few changes to the team pages over the last several days but in case you haven't I thought I'd take a few minutes to break a few of those down.

First, I've added an "Overview", or home, page for each team. This will simply list a quick summary of the team. Record, rank, etc. You might notice that there is a section there for district records. I'm going to be doing my best this season to keep up with overall records and rank, along with district record and rank, as separate numbers. I've also removed the team statistics from the sidebar and put those in the overview page. Please keep in mind that I still consider this page a work in progress. I'm sure there will be other changes made to it at some point.

The schedules page will remain unchanged from last season, at least for the time being. Don't worry, the rankings will show up everywhere once they're ready.

Finally, I've added a "Discussion" tab. Each active team now has a dedicated thread in the "SixMan Team Discussions" forum and that discussion tab will take you to that team's thread. Please note that these are for cheering on your teams, or posting general updates. Any negative or off-topic posts in these forums will be quickly removed.

As always, if you notice any problems or think something could be done better, please feel free to contact me any time.

Now Accepting Schedules

I believe I've finally gotten things to the point that we can start adding in the schedules for the 2022 football season.

A few things have changed for next season as far as this is concerned. First, you will have to be a registered member, and be logged in, to add a schedule. That said, anyone can add a schedule for any team. You do not have to be the coach to add a schedule. Second, schedules will still need to be approved before they're made public. However, an exception is made if you are the coach of the team and your account is associated with the team. In order to get your account associated with a team, please contact me and I'll get you added. Finally, assuming I have the divisions/districts correct, there is no longer a need to designate whether a game is a district game or not. Games against district opponents will automatically be marked as so. That said, if you're playing a non-district game against a district opponent you will need to go back in and change that game after it's submitted.

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions on how things can be made better, please don't hesitate to drop me a message.
