Who will get upset in Week 1?

Week 0 hosted a number of surprising upsets...who will get upset or not cover their spreads in Week 1? I am betting there will be fewer upsets this week but I am sure that a couple of teams at least will be able to pull off an underdog win.

I don't know about upsets, but I can say this, teams have low ratings and some teams have high ratings and most of this is due to last seasons successes or failures. This is a new year with alot of teams getting many new players or younger players just growing up. With this influx of new talent it is very difficult for Granger to rate the teams accurately. This is why it will take a few weeks to straighten things out. As an example, Town East (at this time) really is not as good as Granger has them rated, while teams such as CASA, Brenham, and Annapolis are rated too low. It will take awhile for the cream to rise to the top.
Let me give you an example, last year Town East lost to Winston by about 30 points, yet this year we are favored by 45+. We are not even close to being as good as we were last year. This is all based on the teams success from last year, and the respect that we have gained as a program over the last couple of years. But all that has nothing to do with this years team. So if Winston wins the game this Friday, it really shouldn't be considered an upset, they did win last year and we did lose some very good players also. I hope I make sense.

Who is Plainview Christian even playing this week?

And yes, I understand how much fluctuation there will be in the rankings and early week spreads...especially in the private school divisions. BUT it is fun to speculate.

To answer my own question: according to the online schedule here on sixmanfootball.com it shows that PCA has a BYE this week. So...I guess PCA is projected to win this week since they aren't playing anyone :D

Just a reminder ... if your schedule changes (cancellation, replacement game, change of date/time/place), it's important to e-mail [email protected] ... since we are now doing the schedule on line, that's what is being used to determine rankings, spreads, etc.

Don't just put the change here ... because that means that you'd better hope that I or Granger catch it. And last week, I messed up several games (including Abilene Christian/Loraine and Amarillo Heritage/Lorenzo, as well as botching a couple scores), so if I were you, I wouldn't be sitting around waiting for me to get it right.

uuummmm. i didnt really expect you to just happen alond this particular post and catch that, ya know, to me, if people know were playing, good, if not, oh well........its not like so many people from our school read this and go......oh dang, well, they arent playing. i do have a little bit better things to do than go to e-mail and send changes........

cadec you might want to be a little more respectful talking to lifegate like that...just a thought.
And if you looked at the revised Week one spreads they have ya'll as the underdog to Lazbuddie by 27. BUT, it IS six man football and upsets DO occur occasionally...kind of like that team last week that was supposed to get beat by 45 but then ended up winning by 48 :D Hope ya'll have some of THAT luck against Lazbuddie!
