I was asleep. I had just moved to Houston in June of '63 and worked nights.
When I woke up my wife told me. I didn't believe her at first.
Later my boss called and told me not to come to work that night.

How come all you "Old" guys is as old as me?

I realized I was getting old one day in the early 90s ... was out on a date (I married late @ age 38) with an attractive young thing and we were talking about stuff that affected us in our youth, events of the day. I mentioned the JFK assassination and she told me she wasn't born until three years later ... come to think of it, I think that young lady was an FBI agent and when she asked me what I did for a living, I said I sold drugs (which was then when she told me her career). I quickly mentioned that I worked for a legal drug company in pharmaceutical sales.
 
Ya'll are all so young I'm surprised you even remember the date. On the other hand, I'm so old I barely remember............... 8th grade at a drive-in eating lunch. Somebody turned the radio on in a nearby car. We ditched school, figured nobody would miss us. We were wrong..................... Nearly got in as much trouble as Oswald did.

Now for my AARP brothers how can you remember 11/22/1963 and you forget what you had for lunch or where your keys are? two more question in history the civil war was when? our independence was what year ? these question you can ask anyone under the age of our AARP brothers and get no answer. I didn't know this until the 90's. On 11/22/63 my grandad was a track crew supervisor for the Rock Island Railroad. They were working about a mile West of Dealy Plaza just off Stemmons Freeway. Setting around on lunch break they heard sirens then saw motorcycle cops, police cars, black limo's and other cars/convertibles go flying by (towards Parkland Hospital). He'd heard the POTUS was coming to town that day but hadn't paid attention to where or why. Had no idea what was happening until later.

No way. I'm not a conspiracy theorist ala Mel Gipson in "Conspiracy Theory", I am a little nutty but not that nutty. Great movie by the way. There's just no way Oswald did it all by his lonesome. A couple of things come to mind #1, why didn't he shoot as the motrcade was coming directly toward him instead of waiting until it was going left to right? Gun jam? Nerves? #2 The car carrying the President was moving at 10-15 mph left to right, he hit his target (size of a volleyball) with two out of three shots within 5 seconds at 60 yards with a bolt action rifle? #3 Watch the film, JFK's head moves backward when he was shot. Now you tell me how in the he_ _ can a man's head move backward if he was shot from the back?
Wait a minute, I thought I heard something....
 
I remember the funeral in black and white on tv. First time I'd ever seen horses haulin a casket on tv or otherwise. I think it was on Monday the 25th, we were still out of school for it.
They're was a little boy on the steps dressed like a girl saluting like the Army and Navy guys did in movies and shows on tv or at the drive in. Then there was the horse. Daddy, why is that soldier leadin that horse with the saddle but no rider with the boot's in the stirrup's facing backwards?

I doubt that JFK consulted the Pope on secular matters such as whether or not to seek a tax increase. On other matters maybe he just picked up the "Pope Phone" and sought council.
Here's another pondering point. Is the Vatican a member of the U.N.?
Seriously, all presidents have historically sought guidance from spiritual leaders.
Another tidbit while my feeble mind prepares for a day of gorging, my uncle carried the "nuclear football" for several presidents. Can you imagine the responsibility the leaders of the world face on a daily basis.
Also have a brother who used to deliver daily briefings to Cabinet level officials during the Reagan admin.

Wouldn't he just get two hail Marilyns and move on. If he contacted the Pope every time a good looking gal looked his way, they would have spent all of their time in some form of confessional.

Oswald may have been the only actual shooter that day but I don't think he was completely by himself. I saw a recent documentary that suggested that the actual real time shot spread was 11 seconds. Something about film speed and sound travel time. I don't know, ask the people that did the documentary.
