What's With God's Schools??

Used to, the privates knew their place. As long as they played together and determined their champions in their own watered down divisions, they usually just sat amongst themselves and enjoyed the board.

Now it seems we have a new breed of private school fanatic. They actually think they can compete on the same stage as the public schools. And all these new ranking machines are doing nothing more than giving them the fodder to further their fantasy.

Let me just come out and say it as painfully and honestly as I can: Private schools are, at best, a distant Division III compared to public school football programs.

One of the better privates didn't get 45'd by RS a week or so ago, and losing by 36 makes them think they have arrived? In what world does that make privates on the same level as publics? It don't. It never will.

So no matter what fajitapete, or the facebook dude says - none of you privates are ranked high enough in real life to give you the kind of false hope you seem to have sprouted this season.

I'm not sure where you are trying to get with this post, but UIL and Private are two different leagues and no one is trying to compare them, but give credit where credit is due. Just this week #3 Tapps D1 Dallas Covenant beats #10 UIL D2 Milford 58-14 and TCAL D1 #1 Waco Live Oak beats UIL D2 #9 Gustine 48-0. I know there has been other private schools beat UIL schools this season but I didn't feel like looking at all of the scores. So just make sure you give the credit when it is deserved, thats all I am asking.

I have to agree with rainjack. There are a few decent private school teams, but even the best of them can't consistently compete with an average public school team. IMO private schools are lying to themselves and others when they claim they are equals.

You know we've been studying Proverbs in our Sunday School Class and this most recent topic may have helped explain to me the difference between knowledge and wisdom.
Thanks Rainjack.

We will see how Dallas the Covenant matches up when they play Throckmorton on Friday! then we will know. I think the only TAPPS school worth even discussing is ACHS. but I agree with ya Rain.

I am headed to Throckmorton Friday night to watch the Greyhounds battle Dallas Covenant. Looking forward to it I might add. BTW, IF the team from Throckmorton comes through with a win, it will mark Coach Mike Reed's 100th victory. That is reason enough to be there.

IF Dallas Covenant should win the fact a "private" takes down the # 1 team in the land would certainly make the trip worth the time and effort from where ever you live.

Facing facts and reality it is possible a great "private" can take down a "public" as has been referenced by knightsfball above. Credit given to Dallas Covenant and Waco Live Oak.

To ALL private or public teams: GOOD FOOTBALL TO YOU!

Great. Your D-1 #1's can take down Public D-2 9 and 10's. There is a reason a lot of public schools schedule privates schools for homecoming. When that stops happening, the privates will get some credit.

Very clever rainjacktx...throw in a few truths along with some broad generalizations and get everyone all worked up. So, I'll play. I agree that once you get past the top 4 or 5 private schools in each Division, the quality is pretty watered down. You bemoan the fact that a private school is proclaiming they have arrived by not getting 45'd by Richland Springs. Really, which post was that? As I understand it, not many public schools over the last several years have been able to hang with Richland Springs for an entire game, so maybe I'm missing your point. CowboyP, go back and look at some scores over the years and I think you'll find plenty of examples of a private school beating an "average" public school. Aside from what knightsfball offered, I see that Avalon has been 45'd the last two years by the same private school. Maybe that's not consistent enough for you, or maybe Avalon is merely below average.

With your distant Division III comment, did you really just imply that what Division you are in equates to how good you are? Come on, you're starting to lose a little credibility with that statement.

Did I miss all the posts where the private schools are sprouting false hope and claiming equality? Please, enlighten me.

I used to joke that I didn't belong to any organized denomination, I'm a Methodist.

I don't think there's much of a difference. I was hoping you would say Southern Baptist. Way to screw up my witty retort.

I'm prescient. I know what your going to say before you do.

SmokeyJoe, do you know the difference between a Baptist and a Methodist? Two Methodist will actually acknowledge each other when they happen to meet in a liquor store.

In most cases the Methodist will say " What can I get for you?"
