Rankin ISD school calendar shows @ Garden City as well

Didn't think about the school websites. Thanks!
Rankin calendar shows at GC
GC calendar shows at GC
Lonestar at GC
I guess this site is outnumbered.

Well, I reckon Garden City it is! That does make a difference... at least in my mind. I've got to go with GC then.

fortyfived,
As far as who I'd rather have the WV meet up with in the first round goes, we've had recent success against GC but not so much vs. Rankin. You may remember that three years ago we beat Rankin in their homecoming only to have them hand us our @$$ in the first round at Mertzon. The less we see of the Red Devils the better, if you ask me. GC is certainly no cakewalk, remember that they won state the year Rankin beat us, but I think I'd rather play them in Sterling City than Rankin in Mertzon. There you go, for what it's worth.

Water Valley's a different team than they were three years ago

Not sure what you're getting at here, Gunslinger. Do you mean different coach, different attitude, different atmosphere, etc. or are you just stating the obvious fact that there are different kids on this year's team? If that's the case then you are taking the one sentence out of context. That sentence was written in support of the preceeding sentence and to emphasize the point about a lack of recent success against Rankin in the playoffs. So, are you Captain Obvious or does your statement have a deeper meaning?

Motley County vs. Groom probably has my attention more than any of the other games in week 10.

Hard to call this one. Groom is much better than I expected this season, but MC has won their district three or four years in a row.

I'm going to pick MC in a shootout. Could be close to 200 points scored in this game.

Rainjack, I'm going to this game, which side are you sittin on? We can talk some football. PM me if you want.

Buckholts v Mt Calm has some possible ramifications right??? If Mt Calm wins wouldn't it force a 3 way tie?

The only scenario where Mt Calm gets in is to beat Buckholts by at least 21 points. Not saying it can't happen, just shedding light on the scenarios. If that were to happen, it would be a three way tie in the standings, with each team having a head-to-head advantage over at least one team involved, and a tie in the point differential. This would end in the ever popular coin flip and I'm not sure how they would decide the #1 seed.

But yes, definitely a game with ramifications.

This brought up an interesting thought in my head. And by no means am I advocating someone doing this, but it came across the lobe and I didn't have an answer so I thought I would ask.

What keeps a team that is in your position, besides the obvious ethical reasons, from just forfeiting to keep from getting beat by 21? Even if you are pretty sure that you will win, the wrong injury or really bad calls or even just a team that you are better than having the game of their career could possibly keep you out of the playoffs (if the coin flip didn't go your way), where a forfeit would guarantee that you were in, because you only lost 0-1. Is there something in the rules that prevents that?

Throck Vs. Knox City for 2nd in Dist. 8

I agree!!

A top ten D1 team won't even make the playoffs..........Ugh!!! (And yes I know KC fell to 11th)

Meat grinder!!!!!!!!!!!

I hadn't realized that until you said it. I thought the Rankin/Garden City district was tough but District 8 is even worse. There will be some bummed out Greyhounds no matter how you slice it.

I have seen language in 11 man districts that awarded max points to the winner in a forfeit, but not because of the scenario you are talking about. A team was undefeated and had to forfeit two games because of an ineligible player. One forfeit made a one loss team the champ. Left a three way tie for second, all with two losses. Among the three left, the two point forfeit loss and a 14 point win got that team the other spot back when you only took two. Was no language to address a forfeit until then. Was certainly the best team in the district, but left a very bad taste.
