make no mistake - Abilene Christian totally expects to win this game - they have a ton of talent and know how to play compete with the publics ... this should be a great game ... I'm surprised WV is a 45 point favorite

I'm a bit surprised by the 45 point spread as well but that's just the Toy doing its thing. The kids at the WV know this is going to be a tough one and I don't think they'll get the big head based on the ranking. You don't have to look any further than the T-Rock/Dallas the Covenant game to know the best privates can play with the best publics. I'm sure Coach York knows this and will impress it upon his players.

I don't see a private school knocking off another #1 public school this season. I've been wrong before, but not very often.
But then again, the publics seem to have decided to play with fire this year. There is the possibility of a top private knocking off a top public 4 of the first 5 weeks of the season. Week zero DC gave top ten Abbott all they wanted. Week 2 DC beats #1 Throck. Week 3 ACHS goes up against #1 WV. Next week DC takes on currently #2 Valley.
Maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on the privates over the last couple of years. They seem bent on proving me wrong.

Yeah, the WV gets TAPPS #3 Abilene Christian in Abilene this week and TAPPS #4 Midland Trinity in Midland next week. It doesn't get any easier the next week because they have a date with Borden County at home. I reckon we'll find out if they deserve that #1 ranking.
If it should happen I'd say it was the 3rd. Week one Stephenville Faith over Gordon. That was no fluke either, Gordon is good -ask Ira (or Blanket). Faith is big and fast, executed well and were fired up. Gordon was a 45 point favorite. I think the players got a little more game than they expected even though I feel sure the coaches warned them. Faith Coach said in the paper afterwards the game was about removing the "but", they're good "but" there a Church School.Kramer":2ryq8bko said:

I'm looking for a good hard-fought game, but WV with the win. Don't particularly care about the spreads or ranking for that matter.

After some considerable deliberation, ACHS is going to have to show up with a whole buttload of whoopa$$ if they want to have a prayer of beating WV.
But then again, I thought the very same thing when DC went up against Throck.
But then again again - what are the odds of two different privates beating two different public #1's in consecutive weeks?
If it happens, then the Mayans' are right - and whatever happens in Abilene will be utterly meaningless.

I understand one team has a key injury that could indeed effect the outcome of this game. I hate it when an injury does that but it is part of the game.
No, I am not saying who it is or what team it is. I don't want to "move the line".
