UT

Ok the Horns have looked good the last two weeks. Of course they should considering who they have played. The secondary looks weak which is no surprise. Will Muschamp and Akina get them up to to par? I was a little dissapointed that the o-line didn't protect McCoy better at times. Also I think the running game was spotty. How is UT going to do this year? I believe that they have a shot to go undefeated until Tech. I know that UT-Norman is supposed to beat them but hey I have to have hope. If they can get past the sooners and Missouri (which is in Austin) and Tech can actually not lose a game they are supposed to win. We might have a ESPN College Game Day in Lubbock November 1st. Of course Tech will almost certainly implode at some point they just can't help it and as much as I wish that the Horns can get it done there is a good chance they will hit at least one roadblock on the way. Whatever happens I already have my tickets for the Tech game and I know it will be a great game.

I think there is something about the Horns this year that seems different than last. I feel like they will do well with Muschamp and Akina on D. Akina can get back to coaching the secondary which he did under Muschamp at Auburn and they always have a good D. The Sooners scare me but like I said there is something in the air this year. I loved that statement about UT-Norman it is the truth. Texas is my the only non-SEC team I like. My favorite team is Alabama who are doing great but I am not sure about their offense against SEC schools. My other team is Georgia and they have a great team, so as long as the three do well all is good with me and to me there is nothing better than college football on saturday, all day baby.

the only thing about UT that really worries me is what you said earlier about the run. To be a big contender in the BCS bowls, which is always what UT expects, you can't be a one sided team. McGee is a hard runner, but he is not nearly the speedster as Jamaal Charles. Greg Davis needs to change to a format that will not only help McCoy (who is doing great so far.), but also McGee. The secondary is just young, but athletic. I believe only one projected starter is a senior, Ryan Palmer i think. With proper coaching and more experience, they will get even better as the season progresses. We will probably see how much they improve when they play Tech, and we will see if it is good enough.

Saw the game against CU this week and, while I have always known UT gets the best recruits, I was really impressed by their defensive and offensive lines. Those guys are huge and clearly some of the best available in the state. I know CU was not a good group to gauge them by, but if Texas can play like this against OU and Mizzou, they're going to be tough to beat.

Question: Is Ogbanaya (Sp?) the feature back. I've always been impressed with his quickness when I see him play in person. Colt doesn't need to be the leading rusher. Also are the corners and safeties jelling just in time to face UT-Norman and Mizzou?

He is back. I probably wouldn't have noticed that he was back, but CU intercepted McCoy and had nothing but green in front of them, until about a second later it was clear that Ogbonnaya was going to run him down. That, among others, was a good example of the athletic mismatch on Saturday.

Ogbonnaya looks to have more speed than in his past couple of years. I was impressed with his 65 yd td run ( i thought that he would get caught from behind)...what an excellent strength and conditioning program they have at UT..it gives them a huge advantage. If Ogbonnaya truly is that fast then he should be the featured back, perhaps Codi Johnson as the extra thump. They were discussing how Johnson is trying to lose weight to become the starter, so we will just have to see how that goes. Personally, I think we are runnning the wrong running formation for the type of running backs and line we have. I think we could line up in the power I and some other power runnning games and just run over people. Of course, I am biased to Ut so i might be wrong.
