Let's stick to the playoffs this year here...

They sort of do because the districts are not segregated between DI and DII in the 11-man classifications.

While this is correct for 6A, 2A through 5A are segregated into D1 and D2, with four schools advancing to the playoffs from each district.

Keep the divisions separate. Combine from 16 to 8 districts in each division. Then take 4 from each district to the playoffs like track. At the semi-final level have the two East teams (Div. I and Div. II)play and the same thing out West. Then have those winners meet for ONE TRUE state champ. Hell who knows game might even go the distance.
