Undefeated teams

There are still 9 undefeated teams in D1 with only three games to go. Abbott and Aquilla have to play each other in district so there can only potentially be 8. Does anyone remember a time when we had 8 undefeated teams at the end of the season before playoffs started? That seems like a bunch of teams to me, last year there were only 6 I believe.

Is there a chance we will have more than two state champions then?
 
I already have a bracket made so I might as well list all the undefeated and embarrass myself and see how it plays out. Probably horribly judging by my season long pickems. But here it is.

Aquilla has a loss to Abbott week 10
Jonesboro has a loss to May week 10 (close one)


So maximum of 7 possible undefeated headed to playoff offs.
Region 1: Whiteface and Buena Vista
Region 2: Spur
Region 3: Abbott and Saint Jo
Region 4: May and Gordon

Potential playoff undefeated teams
Region 1: Buena Vista giving Whiteface first loss in QF.
Region 2: Spur goes down to Hermleigh in area round.
Region 3: Abbott same as most years cruises thru region 3 beating Saint Jo in area round and Aquilla in the Quarterfinals.
Region 4: Gordon beats May in QF.

That leaves 3 undefeated teams headed to Semi Finals:
R1: Buena Vista
R2: None
R3: Abbott
R4: Gordon

West SF round: Buena Vista loses to R2 winner (Blue Wildcat, a Black Wildcat, or a Cardinal.) Too tough to know!
East SF round: Gordon defeats Abbott.

State Championship: Last undefeated Gordon Longhorns remain that way beating Too tough to know and having a Back to Back Undefeated State Championship run. (But not 45ing every opponent this year).

I see Aquilla losing first, Week 11 to Abbott & again to Saint Jo in the 2nd round.
I see Spur losing to Newcastle in the first round.
I see Avalon losing in the 2nd round to Abbott.
I see Saint Jo losing in the 3rd round to Abbott.
I see May losing in the 3rd round to Gordon.
I see BV losing to Whiteface in the 3rd round, but would not be shocked at all if it is the other way around.
I see Gordon falling to Abbott in round 4.
I see Whiteface (or BV) falling in the championship game to Abbott.

Jonesboro is not undefeated so there will probably be 8 undefeated D1 teams in regular season.

Im really curious as to what the hype around Saint Jo is about? I know they are undefeated, but from the schedule looks like it is very weak. Aquilla always plays really hard. They'll be a tough matchup for whoever they see in the first round, but they definitely won't be beating Abbott.

Gordon is on a definite roll again. What happens if Abbott owns the line of scrimmage and forces some turnovers?? Then the fun begins.
