initial thoughts...

water valley gets out of their tough district

highland, strawn, valley, and crowell in DII should all be early district favorites

i'll have an eye on marfa, they wont have to play GC in district for a change

only 2 new schools from 11man (counting gorman)...glad they're embracing 6-man but what are wink, bronte, rocksprings, menard, and cross plains waiting for?? I'm a little disappointed in that

I will like to see how DII district 12 plays out...several teams handcuffed by powerhouses now have their chance to win a district title

Wink turned in 105. They would be 11man anyway. My brother coaches there and he said they have big numbers in JH and elementary, so they will probably stay up for a while...but you never know in the oil patch.

I know the WV will probably benefit from eluding Robert Lee and Sterling City in district play but I kind of hate to see that district rivalry go. I know the UIL has to draw the line somewhere but the proximity of those three schools, especially in West Texas, is hard to deny. Still, I'm sure there are other schools with the same issue so I'm not grumbling too much.

No one has mentioned that Valley and Crowell are both now in DII. Depending on what kind of recruiting year RS had, the East could be pretty wide open.

Nice subtle shot on RS right there.

Signing Day yesterday was outstanding for the Yotes!
RJ, Sounds like your team needs to get better,.......REAL QUICK!

I will go out on a limb and say Richland Springs does not need anyone. The bulk of their team this year were sophmores. They did not have many but their JV was solid so looks like another couple of years will be good for the Coyotes.

I'm with HP on that, RS looked like the best team in Abilene at the championship games. Still, with Valley and Crowell moving to D2 it certainly ups the ante doesn't it? Not to mention, Crowell is in the East with RS, Calvert, Milford, Strawn, T-Rock, et al. Should be a dog-fight just to make the championship game.

D II east, is absolutely where the 6 man football will be played this season. RS and Calvert remain there, and you add two more power houses like a Milford and Crowell. Milford fell short to Abbott 3rd round (weather played a huge part) Crowell fell short to Abbott in the state game. And Calvert fell short to a very good Jonesboro team. And Richland winning it all in traditional RS fashion. All four teams have great talent and all have that hunger to win. Absolutely no doubt that THE #1 best team in 6 man next season will be one of these teams. No disrespect teams like Abbott and Follett and Valley or Borden(Or any other schools). But these are my Pre-Season top 4.... and there all in the same region! The 2016 playoffs are going to be epic!

I agree that the EAST will be strong this year, but how about your picks on who will represent the west?
I am going to say that it is time for Vance Jones to make it back to the big game.

The west is not just terrible. I believe Follett and Valley will get really hot and be a contender to make it to the big game. Teams like Amherst and Balmorhea would also be able to make some noise as well but there's will be based on player progression and getting hot at the right time. There are a couple of sleepers as well like.. Dell city, Grady, and Loraine. But based off of pure talent right now Follet and Valley are head and shoulders above the rest
