The U.I.L. & 11-Man Football

Yes, I know this is a 6-Man board, but I just had to ramble
a little bit. THANK YOU Lord that I am part of the great 6-Man world!

Here's just another reason the U.I.L. makes me cringe!
They have adopted this Obama way of thinking and basically "entitlement mentality" way of life.
They have watered down the high school (11-man) football playoffs so bad that's it's a TOTAL JOKE!
But, it's all about the all mighty dollar. They now allow 4 teams from every district to advance to the playoffs.
The following teams (& records) are in this year's football playoffs:
(1-9) - Menard
(1-9) - LaVilla
(1-9) - Hondo
(1-9) - Borger
(1-9) - Synder
(2-8) - Sudan
(2-8) - Shamrock
(2-8) - Dallas Gateway
(2-8) - Chico
(2-8) - Shallowater
(2-8) - Sabine
(2-8) - Waxahachie Life
(2-8) - Bonham
(2-8) - Vernon
(2-8) - Diboll
(2-8) - Navasota
(2-8) - Zapata
(2-8) - LaVernia

(3-7) - 27 teams

Just my thoughts.
STOP the entitlement way of thinking, it's going to damage our next generation!

So there are absolutely no 3-7, 2-8 teams in the 6man football playoffs? You realize mathematically there are 6man districts out there that would only have to win 1 game as well to make playoffs? I understand the line of thinking but what do you want to go back to? District champion only?

You'd miss out on a lot of good playoff football with only the DC advancing. Just last night we had two good games in Naz/White Deer and Bryson/May. Neither of those would have happened.

I'll be honest and admit I like the top two from each district going, but is it really a feather in the cap of the team that wins the state championship and doesn't even win their district championship?
Is that really fair to the team that won district?
Me and Charlie Brown.

That was food for thought. If only one team made it,it couldn't happen
Getting back on topic of U.I.L. & 11-man football, here's what happened in the 2014 playoffs.
Winless Scarborough samples playoffs, goes down fighting
http://www.chron.com/sports/highschool/ ... 892019.php
Highlights:
West Orange-Stark 64, Scarborough 0.
Scarborough, the state's first winless playoff team, extending its losing streak to 58 straight games.
The officials went to a running clock in the first quarter with West Orange-Stark up 35-0. Scarborough finished with just one yard of offense and a single first down, getting that on the game's final play.
Scarborough's season is over, winless for the sixth time in the last seven years. But unlike the previous 18, this season ended in the playoffs.

Just an aside. The UIL allows all of these teams in because that's the way the coaches assn wants it. More teams in, more championships, more coaches gets credentials for their resumes...

also Savoy was 3-6 going into last night.

I like 2 from each district!!! If you look at 11 man closely most district outside of 4A have at least 6-8 schools in each district. Those districts taking 4 of 8 is equal to 6 man taking 2 of 4.

Everybody gets a trophy.......... Kool-Aid line forms to the right.......

This could be a once-in-a-lifetime exception but;
in the 2003 2A playoffs when 3 teams from each district went:
San Augustine Wolves - 5-0 in playoffs- 2A Division 1 Champion (from District 23)
Garrison Bulldogs - 6-0 in playoffs- 2A Division 2 Champion (from District 23)
Timpson Bears – 3-1 in playoffs – lost to Garrison in 2A Division 2 QF (from District 23)
District 23 was 14-1 in the playoffs with the only loss being to a fellow District 23 representative.

Like I have promoted before, the UIL needs to combine these four team districts in 1A and make eight team districts, and take four to the playoffs.
They would still get their same number of playoff games, but make it so much better for the current scheduling problems that many successful teams face.

Well, well! I'm speechless!

(1-9) Hondo defeats (9-1) Devine

Hondo 56, Devine 28

they were due... as Harry Caray would say, "he's 0-14, which makes him all the more dangerous!"

On another side note, nobody wants to be the team the Cleveland Browns beat.......
