The big C - a nightmare in the making.

Might want to take a can of air freshener just to be on the safe side.
I'm supposed to be over the mountain to the west about 50 miles starting Monday 7/30.
About 1/2 way between South Fork & Wolf Creek Pass.

how's the fishing at that place?

Good I hope. Its goint to take good fishing and luck for somebody with my (lack of) skills. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread the last time I fished for trout was as a kid of 8-9-10. Mostly with a kids rod & reel, I played with my dads flyrod some, caught trout both ways. I hope to find a secluded spot with few trees close to the bank to practice at for a couple of days where I won't get laughed off the creek/river/lake. Going to practice before I leave too. The stretch of the Rio Grande from South Fork to Del Norte is rated as a Gold Metal Water - 2 brown limit minimum 16" all rainbows must be released. Might be worth a day trip from where your at. My boss fishes this whole area every year, based just west of Creede on the Rio G. with good results. Read that Million Reservoir just SE of South Fork is a local favorite.

Speaking of trout fishing....The family and I are heading out on July 6th for some trout fishing in Red River NM.... I have not been up there since the early 2000's and the kids have never been trout fishing. They are in for a really good time and some cooler weather, can't wait!!!!!!

I don't think any true fisherman would laugh you off the creek, Especially not me. We all started some where and in my defense.... I refused to read instructions until I had no other choice... I'm sure some had a chuckle or two at my expense but I never regretted a single day I was out in the field or in a stream.

Orvis site (orvis.com) has a 20 pack of essential flies for 9.95 and no shipping cost. At 50 cents a fly, its a bargain. True Platoro survival pack. Unfortunately I won't need em this year.

Shocking!!

Guys ... I'm going to post a cancer good-news story from today's Green Bay Press Gazette. The young man here got sick suddenly with Non-Hodgkin’s T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. There are fewer than 300 cases in the United States each year in people so young. The type of cancer is so aggressive it can double in size every 24 hours. When it occured, his parents were on vacation in Berlin and were told that they probably were not going to make it back to Green Bay before their son died.

I know alot about this young man. His father (Tim) is my childhood best friend and best man at my wedding (and I at his first wedding), and although I knew a lot about this story, I just happened to be surfing the newspaper website and found it.

TJ just finished playing four years of college lacrosse at Denver's Regis College.

Damn good story. Well, except for the fact that the kid went to Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, a school which was formerly known as Premontre and in my estimation, well ... I didn't like the joint when I was in high school. Let's just say that you can change the name, but you can't change the smell ...

Better be careful, Lifegate. I know a guy who had that same attitude towards a school that wears baby blue and red. His kids go to school there now. :-0 You never can tell what surprises life has in store for you.

My kids finally talked me into wearing one of those caps this year.

I'd disown the kid if he told me he wanted to go to Green Bay Premontre ... or Green Bay Notre Dame, whatever they call the joint. I hate it that much. Long story ...
