Texas Bowl in Zephyr

I'll assist in anyway possible but remember we are so far north that northers blow in from the south, literally.

I can recommend some pretty fair players for the West if the game is cut that direction. Runningbacks like Valley's Buchanan, Ira's Morris and Miami's Roberts and QBs Richey from Borden County and Knight of Crowell are as potent as any I have ever squared off against (have watched Tanner Richey twice from the stands). Of course noone will forget Reed's two at Throck'. All five of those schools have a solid half-dozen more that can flat play. There are some good Division 2 players, also, but the best competitive contest would be displayed with both divisions together on the same squad...that would be a salty team!

I can't imagine a better bunch being sown together anywhere in our great state of Texas. If they all played there would be a line of coaches two or three deep willing to sacrifice their time to serve those lads. It would be something special to see East meet West deep in the heart of Texas. I've got two boys, two nephews and a grandson who are planning to play in that game someday, now just eleven miles from where they were all born. :}

I've wanted to go to this game for several years but never made it. Wanted to see the best players give it one last go and some players I followed/knew a little and or relatives of (was Jonathan Parsons in it? - don't remember). Johnny Abbott, Jonathan Lindsey, Trey Doyle, Parker Purvis, Adrian Garcia and the rest, T A included.
Had reservations for a cheap hotel in Big spring in 09. Wife had car wreck Friday before.
Good news for me. Hour away. No excuse needed to hit the bbq joint in Brownwood.
No matter the format I'm glad to see it continued for some of the kids to get to put the pads on one more time. The best against each other.

Coach Burkhart,

I'll be more than willing to help out in any way possible. It is great that you are keeping this alive, as I have had two kids play in this game out in Garden City. Best of luck, and don't hesitate to ask me to help out.

I wouldn't mind seeing what BE sayed, West vs. East, d1 and d2 combined with their part of the state. Would love to see some of those kids battle it out.

Thank you Coach Burkhart for continuing this game. I am sad to see it leave Garden City. It was always nice to be able to drive the couple blocks to the stadium and watch football in the middle of summer. I know 3 or 4 seniors here who were hoping to get to play that will be really disappointed as we always had a few of our guys on the team even if they happened to not make elite status. Sad to see it go, but Zephyr will be a wonderful host.
