Texas Bowl in Zephyr

Coach Burkhart

11-man fan
I have talked with administration in Zephyr. They have agreed to let us use their facilities. Garden City has done a awesome job in having this every year. We have had many kids have great experience participating in this bowl. This gives a chance to other players to participate in a All-Star game that may or may not been selected to play in the all star game in Lubbock. I will get back with more details soon. I know I am crazy for doing this but I think it would be awesome to have it here in Central Texas

Thanks

Coach Burkhart

As this shifts to a diff locale,
I bet more of us East
and Central types
can pitch in to help.

Many hands make light work.

July 13 Football Game

We are trying to decide how we want to have this game. We are open for suggestions.

Option 1 ( D1 Vs D2 )

Option 2 ( Public vs Private )

East versus West, public and private with 12 minute quarters and the coaches decide how to divide up the playing time.

Second thought, let's take Reed's sixman versus elevenman idea: half the game six and half the game eleven. What better way to open the door to a larger audience. Invite elevenman players and evolve from there. Imagine the dynamics of 3 yards and a cloud of dust with a score every 3 plays. :)

Think about the possibilities--no more sixman, elevenman, eightman, instead the focus could be small schools (sixman through 2A). It would take a bonafide visionary to ponder those possibilities.

Great to hear that this game will continue! It's a tremendous experience for the kids and also provides great exposure for our game.

And I would pay good money to watch the private schools finally be measured against the state's best public school players!

Jerry, I can see it now. This could be the birth of a beautiful relationship where all small-school players join together to celebrate the game of football, not six or eleven-man, just football. And the person who authored this vision may be remembered for as long as this game is played.

And no longer would you be just Coach Burkhart; instead you would be honored with monikers like Coach Jumpstart Burkhart, or Coach Bravehart, or Jerry Mozart Burkhart. To some you would be Coach sweethart or even Lionhart. To others you might be Kmart Burkhart. The possibilities are infinite. :) :) :)

No a_ _ intended, just pun. :}

Both!?

How about East vs West ... and have kids from private and public schools on both teams?

Thanks to Coach Burkhart for keeping this game alive.

BE those are some great ideas. I think you would be the perfect person to help me. I don't think I need any new names, I have enough bad ones already. I just want the kids to play. We will have everything out early next week. Take Care and God Bless.

I kinda like the east vs west idea too. Have the private and public kids play together, d1 and d2. It's a combo of all three ideas.

Great idea. Passes my test using the KISS system (Keep It Simple, Stupid!).

I know when it was at Garden City, they tried to get (and may have gotten a couple) private school kids and they would play on their respective side (if they were D1 TAPPS, then they were on D1). But they had a problem with players saying they would come and then backing out last minute. Maybe since Zypher is closer to I-35 they will get a better response.

I believe we should keep it at D1 and D2 let the Privates play on their side with their division.
