TAPPS to update start dates by noon on Friday

TAPPS just sent out an email that stated they will provide an update by noon on Friday.

I sure hope so. I know they’re looking at it. I truly feel for both TAPPS and the UIl right now. They’re having to make some tough decisions in some tough times. I bet the good folks at the UIL office had a rough day.

I would bet that most teams have already rescheduled the games they had with TAPPS teams. If TAPPS opens its season sooner, it may just mean more TAPPS v. TAPPS games.

You are right about that. I've already seen several in my area that have already made the changes. Now we wait to see what TAPPS does. Flexibility and patience, both two things I don't have.

The State Attorney General ruled that private schools are not compelled to follow health department guidelines.

I think it is a very slippery slope and can be perceived many different ways.

Do you comprehend what the UIL did? They wiped out a lot of 4A districts by splitting the conferences the way they did. There isn't a perfect solution under the circumstances. I think both organizations are doing their best under some extraordinary times.

Are you talking about 4A schools withing counties that cannot begin until a later date?
I think that is terrible. I think UIL and TAPPS have made bad decisions.
There is not a one size fits all plan unless you delay everyone. I heard someone reference the UIL's decision as a spineless attempt to "Split the Baby" in reference to King Solomon.

TAPPS moved football and volleyball up one week. Not much help with the schedules. Apologies to my UIL friends.
