TAPPS Calendar 2014-2015

TAPPS has posted its tentative 2014-2015 calendar on its website:

Like our UIL friends, "Zero Week" is no more; football season is 11 weeks (Weeks 1-11) starting August 28.

Playoffs are scheduled for four weeks, ending on December 7 & 8.

So, good, looks like four weeks for playoffs and a 12 team bracket. I still don't like that first round bye deal, though. Invite just four more teams, then four more teams get a playoff game and the district champ doesn't have to wait two (or three) weeks to get on with the playoff season. If TAPPS is truly trying to get more schools involved then open up to a sixteen team bracket. Might be a bit of a stretch, though, especially in Division I that has only 18 schools. Dont get me wrong, I'm much more excited about a 12 team bracket than 8.

I think 16 is just two many, and 8 is to small. I think 12 is perfect. In Divison II and III with four divisons, then I assume they will just give the District Champs a first round bye. I think that really gives you an incentive to win your district. Personally I love the idea of having a week or even two off to have guys heal up before a playoff game.
