Just wondering, not that you want to, but if someone gets a fake handoff can the D tackle him at anytime after the play? Is that a refs judgement call of unsportsmanlike conduct or holding on the D?
In my opinion the play is legal as long as there is a reasonable suspicion that the player carrying out the fake could have the ball. After that point it would be defensive holding unless something unusual happened that would escalate the penalty.
