Staff size for JH-Varsity?

2 total or 2 for each
For each what?
Your question is rather subjective.
Each school has different parameters in which it's working.
(Especially these days).
You need to consider several other things first
before considering how many.
How many athletes are there?
How large of a budget for teachers?
What is the coach's teaching field?
How many sports does the school traditionally participate in?
Is there regularly a JV or not?
Are there girls and boys athletics?
There is no set answer.

I'd say on average at a 6-man school you have 4 coaches. I have worked at 2 so far, and for Jr. High and JV football, we use 2 coaches, then all 4 for Varsity football.

Most public schools I've talked with have 2-3 man staffs. Hey, UIL limits you to paid staff and there's only so many bodies. You deal with the resources you have, but you should be able to run the show with 2 or 3 folks with 20 or 25 kids. Add JV and JH, you might need another body or two.

A lot of the private schools I see have a head guy and one or two assistants. Some get fancy with a fourth or fifth guy. Most times, those assistants are volunteers and you may not have them every day for every practice. Like any endeavor and even with our public school friends, it's a question of using your time wisely in practice and preparation.

My good friend, Tim Shipman (Fredericksburg Heritage; his full-time job is teaching at Fredericksburg ISD's JH), had a great presentation on planning and preparing your kids in practice ... you can have two guys doing the job as or more effectively than 5 guys not knowing what to do. By the way (and this is a shameless plug), Tim's presentation is on the DVD's from our Clinic last year.

Trock has 3 full time coaches, and alot of assistant coaches in the community.

I'm sure that those "assistant coaches" are sitting in row 7 of the stands or doing other duties, like filming, stats and the like ...

4 coaches just for FB?
Or 4 coaches that divide
all of the coaching duties among them?
Don't most 6man schools
also have Girls athletics?

(You finish the joke)
Hang a smata$$ named Dogface. :)
You called me smart!
At least that's what I think you were trying to do?

How many coaches does it take to screw in the lightbuld of the film projector?

One old Coach,
(and 4 young no-it-alls standing around watching him because they've never seen a projector).

With that many coaches,
I guess y'all won State?

(I guess it could be different on a volunteer staff or a private staff).
I saw a game last year of a private school out in Marshall.
There must have been about 12 daddies on the sideline.
All dressed alike.
I bet all of them thought they were a coach too.

One of my favorite professors first coaching gig
was as THE basketball coach of a small school in Colo.
SHE did all boys and girls while working on her masters,
putting her husband through college and raising 2 young kids.

4 for FB? Seriously???????????????????????

Nothing wrong with 4. Especially if everyone is on the same page. I personally like to use 3. Myself, my assistant, and someone in the press box on the head set.

Good point!

Actually,
there's nothing inheirently wrong
with any number of coaches.
If a school can afford 10
and like Bear said
they're all on the same page,
then get after it!

"How many does it take?"
is prolly up to each individual school to decide,
(or just the ones signing the checks).
