Take me back. Had me fooled for a second. Sixmanradio! What station do I tune in to? Where are they located/how far away from me? How strong is their signal?
In the late 90's, after marrying a Strawn gal in the late 80's I used to listen to Stawn games in Justin Texas by Texas Motor Speedway on 95.9 The Ranch, then based out of Cool Texas, East of Weatherford. I'd become addicted after seeing a few games in the mid 90's, in particular the Super Bowl of Sixman at the time as proclaimed by the time by the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the Strawn-Gordon game. Always a rivalry game near or at the end of the season with a crowd supplemented by deer hunters from the metromess.
Radio's in the house wouldn't pick it up but the one in my truck would. So I would take an adult beverage to the truck and start it every 15-20 minutes for 5-10 minutes to keep the battery charged.
For a younger generation, keep in mind the internet was in it's infancy, there were no football games broadcast on it. Or any sixman website's for that matter.
In 97-98 my wife had a nephew starting for the Hounds. The star of the Team is a now Coach at Union Hill named Shane Mallory. They made the State Semi's for the second time in school history in 98.
I still remember going to it and thinking Wow, this many people at a sixman game.
God Bless all the people that made the Radio broadcast's possible back then.
