Six Man Football Rules Question

New to 6-man football and wondered about a ruling from last nights game.

A player stripped the ball and scored on a 40 yard run. During the run the player "high stepped" going into the end zone at the 4 yard line and the head referee threw a flag. The score was taken away and a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct was assessed from the 4 yard line so basically the td was taken away and the ball was moved back to the 19 yard line.

Not trying to discuss whether the "high stepping" is right or wrong...I am just wondering if the rules for 6 man is different. Normally they would allow the TD...throw a flag for excessive celebration and penalize the team on the ensuing extra point or kickoff.

Was the right call made?

Thanks!

Coach Jones is right ... this is a rule change from a couple years ago and takes points off the board. Saw some refs make the same call in a JH game a couple weeks ago.

Ol' Chuck Noll from the Steelers had the right idea on touchdown celebrations. When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before.

If the Unsportsmanlike act/taunting is clearly in the field of play prior to the score, then yes, the points should come off the board and the penalty enforced from the spot of the foul, 15 yards. That would also count as one of the unsportsmanlike fouls for that player in the game.

If the act is done clearly in the end zone, or if you are not certain that the act occurred outside the end zone, then the score should remain on the board and the offended team would have the option of enforcing the penalty on either the try or on the kickoff, and it would count as one of the unsportsmanlike fouls for that player in the game.

Two unsportsmanlike fouls in a game for a player equates to an automatic disqualification from the remainder of the contest.

And if you happen to play for a TAPPS member school, a disqualification (ejection) is an automatic suspension from the next game PLUS a monetary fine for the school (starting at $50).

Like Chuck Noll said, when you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before.

Thanks to all for the rules clarification and I couldn't agree more with you all regarding the Chuck Knoll reference....even though I prefer the Barry Sanders reference!

I was wondering about this too. We had it called on our team because the player looked behind him. No high stepping. Just running and looking behind him. This after the refs took back 3 other TDs for various calls that didn't make sense to me. I couldn't figure out the unsportsmanlike conduct. I asked my son, and he said our player wasn't mouthing anything (as I first assumed when the ref made his call).

Use to call 'em Red Birds, but got in political correct trouble from some Cardinals over to the Catholic Church.
So i started callin' 'em birds Cardinals, which i think is a silly name to call a bird.....just sayin'
